Just wondering if anyone has heard of flashing your computer on your truck after any modification's so that the computer completely restarts from new and makes adjustment's to any mod's made to the vehicle?? Was told this by someone I know, but wanted to spread the idea and see if it makes sense to anybody else. :hmmmm2:

I know some folks on toyotanation were doing it after doing intake mods. Like removing the secondary filter in the intake. Disconecting the batt and removing a couple fuses (dont recall which ones) for about 30 min to force the computer to do a full reset.
Recall one guy that did a mod and just disconnected the batt (did not remove fuses) and got a check engine light. After disconecting the batt and removing the appropriate fuses for about 30 min or so, no more check engine light.
Im not sure that all mods would require "flashing" but it seems that a few may benefit. For me, I will see how the engine acts before id flash it.
Cheers.

When I installed my Volant intake a while back I didn't disconnect anything and I never got a c.e.l.

There are no ECU-Reflash products on the market for Toyota trucks.

If you wish to retune or optimize your fuel curve for best performance and to compensate for your modifications, you should consider installing and tuning a URD MAF Sensor Calibrator.

Gadget, what did disconnecting the battery and a couple specific fuses supposedly do? Is it just a way to reset the comp? But technicallly not a flash.
Thanks

You are not going to find all the different fuses that need to be pulled on the 05+ Taco to rest the ECU. There are multiple power feeds. You will have to disconnect the negative battery terminal for a while.

Generally you don't need to waste your time doing this on the new trucks. The new super fast ECUs with the dual air/fuel ratio sensors self adjust very quickly. I would not worry about it unless you are doing a real mod like installing a supercharger.

FYI removing that the carbon trap from the airfilter box will not increase performance. I proved that on the dyno. That is not the most restrictive part of the airbox. The most restrictive part is the airbox its self. It simply has to go. That is the whole point of the URD TCAI.
