So I use my iPod in my truck with my deck to browse and play music instead of using CD's and one thing that I find annoying is that say for instance, I go into browse for a song by going into Genres > Rock > Artist > Album and at that point I would see a list of songs...

Well when I turn the truck off, it will continue to play songs from the point I left off, but I can't browse right to it I have to go through all those menus again..

Is there a way to have the deck remember where it was before? I know this is obviously a power thing but is there something, anything that can be done?

Or is there any type of deck/dvd unit that has this ability?

I'm having a tough time following you but my deck will start up right where mine left off when I turned the truck off. Not just the same song, the same location in the song...

I'm talking about like when I browse through the menus to find songs, i.e. choose Genres > Rock > Artist > List of songs. When I turn the truck off, it starts back at the main menu and I have to go through all those menus again to get back into that song list...

I would have to say its a power issue.

Well I don't know that it's an "issue" per say, I think it's just the fact that when the deck loses the power it "resets" itself so to speak, to the main menu (or perhaps it's an Ipod thing)...

It's weird though, because lets say for instance, I shut the truck off in the middle of a song on a play list, when I turn it back on, it will continue to play that same song and will continue to play other songs on that same playlist, but if I go onto the screen to browse songs it starts back to the main menu...

Sure it could be done.. would the work justify the outcome? probably not.

The problem is its storing the data in RAM. If you could find a way to write that bit of data to the NVRAM, then you could. The unit will have some kind of nvram on it that will hold the time, and different settings. you might be able to do it with a firmware hack of some kind.
