Just make sure you do the dyno run in the correct gear. Do some runs in 4th unit it repeats and then do some in 5th. I think you can beat a 311 second gear run without to much trouble.

i just installed the 2d kit with the dds3 gauge into sypders truck. install went in very clean. we then ran his truck over with the 80mm pulley (after brian tuned it the day before) to the same dyno i went to. his runs were done in fourth. ill let him post the numbers/ chart......but he didnt take down the 311hp throne........not even close. :rolleyez:

also......my run was done in 3rd gadget. his was in fourth......fifth gear would not allow for a full pull from the 124 mph limiter.

I've talked to 2 different professionals at 2 different dyno's that both tell me the gear of the pull does not make a difference. :dontknow:

I have heard the higher the gear, the better... essentially 5th gear would be ideal for our trucks, but unfortunately you can not hit the redline, because the speed limiter will hit first... hence the 4th gear pulls.

Well, that is absolutely not true, but it can be true. Confused yet??

It depends on the kind of dyno and how it is being used. I have used the DyoDynamics Dyno and when used in the steady state mode it will display pretty much the same HP and Torque and it does not matter much what gear you are in. It has some high end software that measures a ton of parameters to include gear and final drive ratios and it can correct for that and display a stable number. The DynoDynamics is a very nice dyno.

Now if you used a DynoJet, you will absolutely without a doubt get a different acceleration power result depending on gear used.

For people that say that is not so, ask them to explain this dyno chart:

DynoSECU.jpg

This truck is an Auto and you can see as it runs through the RPM and shifts gears the power result gets higher as the gear used gets higher. The difference in the reported result is in fact VERY different depending on the gear used.

Interesting, my dyno of 294rwhp was done in 3rd gear on a dyno dynamics & my dyno of 284rwhp was done on a dynojet in 4th gear..

i was too gadget little worried my dyno was sqewed when you told me that along time ago. i made sure we did spyders in 4th. on my personal dyno, i did my first run in second........2nd run in third.....and last in 4th. they were all within 3 hp of eachother, the 2nd being the best hp by 1.
