I see a lot of people asking how to wire up AMPs, or Fog lights, etc. That just need a 12v+ line that triggers on and off with the key.
I know where there are multiple.
I feel like I have probed every wire in the truck with a multimeter in the year and a half that I have owned it.

One of my favorite mods to my truck was taking a 8ga wire and routing it from my fuse box under the hood to inside the cab. I have it going in to a distribution block.
This distribution block is only powered when the key is on.
It is REALLY nice hooking something up, and not having to find a power source :)
I used 8ga because I wanted to hook multiple things to the block... Right now it powers:

Train horns
Air Compressor for train horns
Interior Neon
Exterior Neon

When I was supercharged it also handled (as well as the stuff above):
AFR Gauge
Wideband
Boost Gauage
Shift Light
Tach
XM RAdio Tuner

The only aftermarket thing I have in my truck that is not ran by it, is my radar detector... Which is hard wired in my roof above the overhead console.

I STRONGLY suggest an inline fuse on this line....

For anyone who is interested in doing this mod, the wire I tapped is in the fuse box is the black with a red stripe wire shown here:

If you are standing on the drivers side of the truck looking into the fuse box, this is the connector that is the farthest away from you on the right corner.

PLEASE do not attempt this mod unless you are electrically competant. It is not easy to tap into system wires.

does that wire stay hot while the truck is cranking. I have a circuit kit I want to install but was looking for a lead that doesn't get interupted when you crank the starter.

You are looking for a wire that does not cut on and off with the ignition. The only way you are gonna get that is by going to a constant 12v+. They are all over the place. Let me knw if you need me to point one out for ya!

no i figured out what i need... i got a painless circuit kit and installed it. it has special fuse taps to hook it into a switched power source. just run a wire off the hot side of any switched fuse. very simple and now i have 7 extra circuits. 3 acc and 4 constant.
