This is one of my all-time favorite uber-geek videos. Having grown up on PC's I don't really care much for Mac's - and yes, I catch a lot of chit from people in the advertising/design/web industry for not liking Mac.

No, what's funny is that I've had my Mac for almost a year and have NEVER, NEVER, NEVER had to restart it or had it freeze on me. This happened daily on my parents PC. Macs are amazing, that's all there is to it.

You'll never convince me that paying 3 times as much for the same equipment is worth it. I've built all of my own computers for the past 16 years and I never have problems with having to reboot, crashes, etc, etc. It's difficult to point the finger at PC's in general anyway and say that Mac's are more stable since different PC manufacturers use different components. Then again, because of Mac's proprietary hardware requirements, that's why you pay $700 for a 20 inch Apple LCD when I can buy a top of the line Samsung thats 4" larger and $50 cheaper.

I bought my wife an MP3 player for Christmas - a very nice 10GB Sansa e280. It was $150 cheaper than a Nano - which has 2GB less space and doesn't even do video. :stupid:

I appreciate Apple products - but at the end of the day I think they're ripping people off and somehow consumers are okay with it. :dontknow:

(End of rant)

I agree that it's expensive but I think it's worth it to pay the extra. I get a ultra thin (less than 1") sexy looking laptop that does not get viruses and has a web cam built in the top of the display. The little features and details that they put into these machines makes my jaw drop at times. Maybe it's just me but I've had A LOT of bad experiences with PCs so my switch to a Mac that has had zero problems is like a breath of fresh air.

that does not get viruses

It's impractical for people to write viruses for such a small portion of the market. Face it - PC's rule the market share in the world. PC Magazine estimates that only 2.7% of all online computers are Macs. Why would I spent all the time and effort to write a virus for 2.7% of the market? :dontknow:

Also, you'll never convince me to give up my games for the Mac OS. Now I know that the new Intel Core 2 Duo's can dual boot into Windows to runs Windows apps --- but why pay all the money for a "glorified" Windows machine if I'm gonna be in Windows all the time?

It has been industry standard for a long time to do design/video work on Macs. While there was a day when Macs handled this workload much more efficiently - now, there isn't really any difference between the two. As a matter of fact there are times when my AMD 64 2.2 Ghz seems nearly as fast as my bosses Dual Processor G5 (which he paid in the neighborhood of $4500 for without monitors).

Anyway - I'm really not trying to start a battle, just explaining why Mac isn't for me. I have no problem using them but the pricetag is really what sets me off. If you've had bad experiences with PCs, unfortunately you really have no other option than Mac. It would be nice if we had more choices - like cell phones - when it came to OS's and Hardware. :frown:
