Alright, here are a couple of my toys:

First my Micro Heli

And here is my unfinished CAP 232. I ran out of money before I could put the motor and batteries in it. Probably about another $1,000 to finish the CAP.

The bummer is that I'm poor now with a 1-year old and a stay at home mom. So all of my hobbies sit on bookshelves and hang from my ceiling until I can hopefully, one day, afford to get back into it again.

The heli needs battery upgrades, to lipoly (Lithium Polymer) and I need new chargers also. I still have a 6 foot span sailplane that I fly in the summer though. It's free to fly and I haven't broken it yet.

K2, What kind of motor will be going into your plane?? I have a small "HobbyZone AeroBird Swift" that i fly around, but i seem to crash it alot. Cost about $160.00, and the motor lasts about 12 minutse full throttle. Just has a 480 motor in it.

I was going to go with a Hacker Brushless setup (probably B20 26L if I recall). That motor alone is $120. The batteries are about $300 for enough to fly for a couple hours and then $250 for a good LiPoly charger.

The heli is good to go but right now it's running on NiCads and I only get about 4-5 minutes of flight out of it since I upgraded the tail motor. With the LiPoly setup I could get about 15-18 minutes per flight.

The longest single flight I've had on my sailplane (believe it or not) was 47 minutes! :stoned: Neck hurt pretty bad after that flight. I had that 6-foot span plane so high in the sky that it looked like a grain of sand. It was awesome! Thermalling is a lot of fun but takes quite a bit of practice.

And Steven... keep to the $30 deals until you get good. Crashes on the $300 micro heli's are expensive!

$1000.00 seems awful steep for the synchros and batteries for that plane...BETTER be gold plated internals!!! LOL

What do you do, take the sailplane up on a hill and launch it, does it have a prop?

Actually it's $1000 to finish it and get it flying.

The batteries are high output Lithium Polymer and are around $60 each. I would need about 3-4 for a good day of flying (couple hours). The charger I want is $250 --- that's $500 there. Then the brushless motor ($120), receiver ($60), speed control ($80), six channel radio ($250), and miscellaneous odds and ends...

Doesn't take long to burn $1000 in R/C stuff.

Nope, no prop. It's launched off of a length of medical tubing... essentially slingshotted 200 feet in the air. It's called hi-start:

The hi-start has a parachute so that it floats down to the ground after the sailplane detaches from the the hook. It climbs out at about a 50 degree angle to the ground. Pretty exciting!
