Since I've lowered my truck, I've been more sensitive to the handling characteristics.

I've noticed that the rear end has quite a bit of lateral slop to it.

I know URD makes a Traction Bar, but I think that is to keep the rear axle from twisting (reducing wheel hop) and will do nothing for the lateral movement.

Is there something that will reduce the slop?

(I did a little research on wikipedia and couldn't find anything)

So, I almost died today when I figured out where the lateral slop came from..... I drove out to Ft. Rucker and back today. when I got there I noticed a clicking noise coming from the rear driver's side wheel. Turns out that the shop I took it to only finger tightened the lugs and they had loosened quite a bit... the tire was about to wobble off.... I turned GHOST WHITE when I saw it.
I NEVER thought that would happen. I'm never going there again!

geez... check everything out and make them replace everything that got messed up. that could create an issue with the lugs.. check threads and such.

glad u found it!

Really glad you are OK bro, trucks can be replaced, people can't !!!

I know it may be tough for some of you guys to be there when your truck is being worked on, but my best advice is to watch everything they do to your truck. I still do most of my own work, but when it is over my head, I watch them like a hawk :top:

The standard advice for any time your wheels have been taken off by you or any shop is to drive it for 25 miles or so & then retorque them. This happens a lot. It's just that people don't know about it. AND it can happen even if the nuts were originally torqued down correctly, so it is not necessarily your shop's fault except that THEY should know this is possible & recommend that you retighten them down the road.

I watched the dudes change the oil and rotate my tires, at Toyota. It's not because I don't think they know what they're doing. It's because it's my freaking dream machine, and well I have to watch it. The guy saw how well I took care of my truck and I think he appreciated it.

I'm actually afraid to take my truck in to get parts put on it.

I will however admit to being an idiot. One time I changed a tire in the dark on a car, and managed to put the lugs on backwards. Don't ask me how, since they are tapered, but I did it anyway.
