gonna be getting this unit this weekend, and i was wondering if im going to need a additional wiring harness. i know in the box, the unit comes with some sort of wiring harness, but idk if it will be what i need.

i also currently have a older model eclipse unit in there now ( which i will be selling upon installation of the pioneer unit ) so if worse comes to worse and the harness in the box isnt what i need, could i just cut the one in there now and hook it up to the pioneer? thanks in advance guys!

hit up best buy for a plug and play harness, that way you don;t have to splice into your factory wiring and it will save you a ton of time....

Or go on eBay and you'll find the dash kit with the wiring harness as a combo for like $20. Amazon has it too. As for the relay bypass, $5 will get you everything you need to create it.

so the old eclipse model didnt require a wiring harness? i know they used to make the stock HU for tacomas, so it wouldnt surprise me

i already have a double din dash kit so i was just gonna reuse the one i have... i will need to do the parking brake bypass, and i was reading that the switch is the easiest route, but id rather not have to mess with a switch every time i want video. was thinking about wiring a relay. would anyone have a write up on how to do this? :top:

With the newer pioneer models you can't simply ground the parking brake for a bypass. It needs a relay to make the bypass work properly. I got one from eBay for like $10 shipped and has worked flawless on my 4200.

I say just hit up bestbuy or w/e for a harness that way you can sell your eclipse as a straight plug and play and a new harness is only like $10...

If you already have a head unit in there, it should have the wiring harness to the factory plug, unless the person who installed it is a moron and cut the factory wires. if there is one, you should just need to cut the wiring harness wires, splice, and connect them to the new head unit wires.

Just follow this tutorial. I had the P4100 and P4200 and it worked on both. As long as it's an AVH model, it will be fine.
