I have an uncle name Steven Rivas. He is in his mid 30's with 2 kids. One is in elementary school and one is in 8th grade. His wife is pregnant and due may. Its a boy! My uncle has had problems with breathing and feeling weak. Last Thursday he went to Spring Branch Hospital. They said he has a clogged artery. He then was told he was going to have surgery Feb 13. During Surgery the doctor found out he has a tumor in his right side of his heart. This type of cancer cant be detected unless by surgery. He then was sent to Methodist Hospital here near Reliant Arena. The best doctor in the united states is taking care of him. He is a president at this hospital which also has wrote books about "our hearts." The disease he has is VERY RARE. The doctor says he sees this type of cancer once every 10 years. His cancer has not spread and will... if not taking care in a couple f days. He is having surgery around 10am today. Doctor is going to open him up try to take the whole tumor out of his heart and replace some tissue from a cow. if needed an artery from a pig is going to be taken to replace his. he has an 85% chance to survive this because 1. He is young (mid 30's) 2. Is in good health (runs every week ..soccer) 3. Eats healthy (he dislikes burgers) and 4. Has something to live for ...his family and a baby boy on his way. So please pray for my uncle! I believe in Miracles and i believe this is going to be it!. I am at the hospital 12.40am ill keep yall posted

I will certainly pray for your Uncle - and will put in a call to my bible study group to include your Uncle in their prayers. It sounds to me like God put him in the right place. Clogged artery could've caused a major Heart Attack. Instead he is being treated for a condition that he may have never known about.

Please keep us informed! Although we're an online group of "dudes", let us know if we can help with anything.

Will do. My dad had heart surgery not this past christmas but the one before. I know what you are going through. It isn't fun. All you can do is exactly what you are doing, praying and being there for him.

I am sorry to hear this bro....my mother has cardio myopothy(sp?) and was in a coma for two months back in 01' so I know how you feel. Modern Medicine is some amazing stuff though, so keep your chin up and think positive. I will definitely pray for your uncle and your family.

good news guys. prayers has spoken!!! Ooook my uncle was diagnosed with sarcoma a deadly cancer which is treated with taking the tumor and replacing tissues. After this he was going to get chemotherapy. As i am typing i am sitting down in the waiting area and the chemotherapy doctor came out and told us he does not have sarcoma. He has lymphoma a totally different type of cancer which curable. Doctor said its a "totally ball game..like Day and Night" quote from doctor. Still finishing his surgery he is going to have chemotherapy for 6 months. Thanks for the prayers guys and keep praying because this is not the end. From what doctors said there no such thing as "the end" for people who are diagnosed with cancer.

Thanks guys! ill keep y'all posted!!!:top:

Good news! Glad to hear that it is a curable cancer. My wife wife is actually leaving for Florida right now b/c her grandmother (diagnosed 8 months ago with terminal lung cancer) is not doing very well. She was hospitalized Monday with pneumonia. They've given her two months to live at the most. We had planned a trip to go visit her the week before the X-Fest but we're not sure she's going to make it that long.

I'm very glad to hear that your Uncle is not in the boat. We will keep your uncle in our prayers for his quick recovery and for a pain-free therapy. Hang in there buddy.
