Is anyone running a higher tire pressure that whats recommended? If so, what pressure are your tires at?

Would that just be the r-tires for drag racing? If so the fronts should be much higher.

If road racing, are you using a pyrometer or laser to determine pressures?

Typically I have found that pickups like less psi in the r-tires, 4-6 depends on the truck. The XR likes them about the same.

Wow...
thats about the highest I have ever seen someone run in these trucks... I thought I was pushing it at 36..... Why in the world would you run that much?
I think it's a matter of preference, the stock tires run 44 psi max for fully loaded condition which hardly anybody does especially an X-Runner, I have always run about 6 to 8 psi lower than what the tire says (max pressure) and have had excellant tire wear on all the vehicles I've owned, from the stand point of smoother ride and traction it would be good to run lower pressures, like I say it's a matter of opinion and what works good for each individual.

In drag racing lower pressure in the rear gives more traction, but in hard cornering track guys raise the pressures. Up to a point you actually get more grip w/higher pressures. Of course on the street the downside is a slightly bumpier ride, but 38 is definitely not "pushing it".

I run 39 psi at all times, since I do over 100 mph (um...on a closed track...uh) all the time. I rotate every 5000 miles and theres no uneven wear at all.
