Not that I have one, but does any body know if it will mate? I plan on being the first for this swap if can convince the wife:biggrin: , and find an available one. I just have had too many problems with F/I in the past ( on my Integra turbo) to want to try that again for a while.:motz:

I wouldn't reccomend mating anything to our 6 speed tranny...its not very good. Your going to be spending good money for the motor if you get it so spend some more money and get a decent trans also.

NOPE- but if you want to remove the tranny and the clutch and go "sissy" style by all means!

I just ordered a new 5.7 in the crate and Advanced adapter bell to tranny mount and a Doug Nash 6 speed along with a rear end from the new Tundra that will be shortened 5 1/4 inches. I also have a new ECU being programed as we speak. I hope to have the complete job up and running by April 1st. And then look the Firetruck out....

When I finish school and have the money I will definitely be dropping in the the 5.7 V8 Tundra engine. But with the life of a starving student...I can't, lol!

No offense to anyone but I think that would be an inefficient waste of precious mod funds. Sticking with the X-Runner motor and sinking the money into a well built boosted platform would be a better use of $ and with the kind of money you're talking about spending on that Tundra motor swap stuff you could probably make a 500whp X-Runner.

there is no replacement for displacement......... the V-8 would cost a pretty penny to do and all mods done to this would yeld more power than the v-6 ever could... if you went F/I on that platform...... you would have a freaking monster... no if ands or buts about it if i had the time and money to do such a foolish mod by all means i would ....... ya this is an OLD post lol....

they dont make the tacoma with a v-8.... but this would be like saying that building a v-6 mustang will make more power than a gt or better..... true... but..... put the same parts on a gt or better stang and the power made will blow that v-6 away any day.......

you can make a v-6 fast but you can make a v-8 faster

a turbo v6 would be much more fun to drive. (coming from me (rexrunner)with a ls1 swap). only cost 4k for the kit for the entire setup

i have the TRD and agree with you... it just depends on what you are doing with the truck drag or road track.... the v-6 probably would be better for weight and handling and a v-8 probably would be better for straight line....... any thing you do to either one you are going to run into traction issues...... if someone has the money to do this mod then they probably had the extra loot to make it just as fun to dirve..... your rexrunner? when did you do an ls1?????? thought you had a turbo X
