Whats the obsession ???

Just outta curiosity. Whats the obsession with blackening out the headlights? I personally think that the headlight assembly looks good. Better than other trucks out there. It just seems everyone wants to try this mod. 07XR808 wants to go back to oem i believe, so why do it in the first place? Just wondering what your feelings are...

Actually he wants a new ones so he can do it againg but leaving the yellow reflector out!

I did mine in red just to be different! but is all about preference my friend

It makes it look different from other Tacomas. Try drive around the island and see how many of them there are. I have people asking me all the time where they can get them. Makes you truck unique! As for 07XR808...I don't think he wants to go back to OEM headlights...I think he wants to keep them blacked out...just he wants to take the reflectors out. I think that's what he wants...I could be wrong.

Haha yeah I wanted to re-do my headlights because of the yellow reflectors, but I'm not to sure anymore. I like both styles. Again if i were to do it again, it would be because not that many people have that style of B.O. head lights and it looks good. The reason I did mine was because it was rare in Hawaii and looked good on BSP. Even though a bunch of other people have blacked out their head lights since, I still think my truck looks way better than stock. It was one the cheapest mods that I did that changed the dynamic of my truck.

I like the way it looks on the red and black X-Runners but i'm personally gonna leave mine the way it is because I think the stock clear look looks best on SWB.

I agree with Mort 100%. It's all about standing apart from the rest of the crowd. And he is also right when he says people ask where to get them all the time.

I just like the look a whole lot more with the black headlights in the front rather than chrome. Even my dad said the truck looks a lot better with the BHL and he's not a car person.

i did it because everything on my truck is black and the big chrome headlights just didnt match everything else that great

i think it looks alot better, especially on the Xrunners, its an aggressive look that goes well with the Xrunner styling. i think the Xrunners shouldve came with blackhousing headlights from the factory :top: its just a nice touch to a sporty truck and its another little thing that would set Xrunners apart from other Tacoma, also if it were a factory part for Xrunners other Tacoma owners could easily order a Xrunner headlight housing instead of having to bake theirs :laugh:

Toyota learned from their mistakes sorta and made the TRD version with the blacked out head lights. Maybe next generation of X-runners?

Hmm, all I know is that when I first saw the XR I said it's nice looking but too much chrome on the front. Some of my friends looked at me crossesyed when I told them I would dissassemble the headlights and paint the inserts (mind you, I had no idea at that point there was a BHM so I was not being a sheep). So when I was done they all agreed it looks better on the BSP XR.

There arent any xr here at all so for me its not about being different as much as just liking the way it looks

because reflective chrome plastic looks like •XR•XR•XR•XR. that's why so many "cool" cars come stock with blacked out headlights, it's just to show that you have something that is more exotic than the status quo which imo looks like ass. plus now that i have all black and blue with no crappy chrome or silver it looks really clean.
