I knew what I wanted so I had been calling around to the fleet managers. When I found the one with a BSP XR and a good price I went down and bought it.

I went to the dealership and dropped my 4Runner off for an oil change. I was walking through the lobby to go back outside and saw my X in the show room. I told them to hold off on the oil change 5 min later and told them I wanted it. An hour later I was driving home in my brand new 07 Speedway Blue X.

My girlfriend was actually the one looking for a new ride (scion).. while at the stealership i decided i would look at some Dub. cab 4x4 and then i seen her.. I asked the salesman if i could test drive it then i was sold. As far as the experiance with the paper work and everything, it sucked. Don't really feel that i got the best deal that i could have (sent him back to get payment down 7 times). I don't regret buying the X, i love it. I just regret buying it where i did. Funny how i wasn't the only one looking for a 4x4 orginally

I was hosting the First Hawaiian International Auto Show in 2004 and on my break, I walked around to check out all the cars. My family pretty much only owned Toyota's so I decided to check out the Toyota display first. When I approached it...I saw it there! Up on the Huge round stage...a Speed Way Blue X-Runner. I knew nothing about it but I wanted it! I asked the guy about it and he gave me a pamphlet on it and started to describe all the details that made it unique. From that day on...I put all my mind and money into getting an X. I ended up taking equity out on my mortgage and went to the dealership and ordered one. Paid in full. That was that! It was October of 2005 when I got mine. And since then...I have been happily together with the "BLUE MEENIE!" We go on long drives, Taco Cruises, and even lunch on a regular basis.

THAT'S MY STORY!

i knew about it from internet chit chat. I seen it on the lot a few times and started to think about it. i liked that it was lower than my 03 dubcab and that it looked rather racey. well long story short, my roomate(mom) injured herself during her morning walk. She fell and broke both her shoulders trying to brace her fall. Well when she healed up, climbing into my dubcab was very difficult for her, so that sped up my decision. I never test drove it, just trusted Toyota and it all worked out. The first time i drove it was when i picked it up and took it home. Been happy ever since. And for the record, i dont live with mommy, she lives with me..lol i told her to tell her boss to go you know where and retire and ill take care of her since she did such a good job taking care of me. She been retired for 5 years. Retired when she was 55. She couldnt be more happy..

I ordered mine online through the fleet manager after talking to salesman at various dealers close to me who either didn't know what they were talking about or couldn't help me.

Got all the options I wanted for $500 under invoice. No haggling at all. Got the call Saturday morning that they were taking off the delivery truck. Got and paid before the tires ever hit civilian streets.

I was initially looking at the 350z or STI, but I always had the X-Runner in the back of my mind. The 2007's hadn't even come in, so I looked at the 2006 model and liked what I saw. My mind was pretty much made up already. When they pulled up the 2006 demo model and test drove it I really wanted the truck. Unfortunately it took a week and a half extra of waiting time to get it because they still had to unload it from the docks. I'm glad I waited. Was one of the first BSP 07's on the island and possibly last production year of the X...

I was looking at the STi as well. Also the GTO and Lexus IS350. Came back to the X-Runner because I'm a truck guy through and through.

A friend of mine had mentioned that he saw this lowered truck at the dealership so I went over and loooked at it, my jaw dropped, this was it. So for the next week I called around to about 8 or 9 dealerships and got the lowest price I could get ($22,400), had that dealership(Riverside) fax me something saying that was the price he would sell it to me for. Took the fax went to my local dealership showed them the price and the rest is history....

My story is a little more detailed so I apologize in advance if it's long winded - but this is how it went down...

I actually saw the X for the first time while looking over the Chicago Auto Show website. It was debuted there in SWB and at the time, I was like "damn that's a hot truck." At the time I wasn't looking for a new ride though and didn't have the money anyhow.

Fast forward two years - my wife and I are actually shopping in a city an hour west of us. We're on our way home and I said - "Why don't we go back through the city?" So we did. I'm driving down the main strip and see a RR XR sitting on a lot right up front. I said,"Damn, that's an X-Runner!" Immediate U-turn. I went inside and said,"I want to drive that truck." The salesman said,"Haven't even had anyone test drive it yet - not even me - but okay, you seem like you are really interested in it." Right when I turned it on and heard the engine I knew it was right (all the while trying to suppress my smile in front of the salesman). He took me on a bullshiz loop test drive but I was sold. Unfortunately, I had no cash and it wasn't the right time to buy an automobile. My wife had been in a car wreck a year before, we were in the middle of an insurance settlement and we had to purchase her a new car b/c of it. So I left with the shattered hopes of a child longing after the "coolest new toy."

Six months later I saw another RR at the Toyota where I live. Conveniently enough I have a relative (on my wife's side) that works there. I called her and told her that I wanted to test drive it. So I went over at lunch at drove it over my lunch break. I took the truck back after lunch and told her,"You know it's hard to decide if you really want to lock into a 5 year loan on a vehicle in an hour. Can I take it over the weekend?" She said,"Sure!" So I had the truck all weekend! I WAS SOLD! Sad thing was... I still didn't have the money. No insurance settlement - no new truck. So I took it back Monday morning and told her that I would buy one, I just had to wait a little longer.

That same truck same in the showroom for 4 months and not a single test drive either. I put 100 miles on it, it had 7 on it when I test drove it the first time, and 109 when I bought it. After my wife's settlement for the accident, we paid her car off and the next week and went and bought my X-Runner. I love this truck and we already have a history. I kept my last car for 11 years and I hope that the X treats me good enough to keep it that long too.

I was at the toyota dealership getting a Scion tC. I wanted it customized so the sales dude and I walked over to the building where you customize it on a computer. On my way, I was browsing through the 4x4 tacoma's because I thought I would like one eventually. Then I saw my X. The INSTANT I saw her, I fell in love. I wanted her before I even got inside. Then I test drove it and became insane with love. Took me a week just to get her. The dealership in Corona, CA SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! Nobody go there.

I found a picture of the new Xrunner on line but they was calling it only a Tacoma. Anyway, I went by the stealership to pick up a brochure and found a picture of the same X sitting on a trailer being pulled by a dub cab Tacoma. I told the salesman this is the truck I wanted. he said we dont have one but they had an x cab with the 6speed. To make a long story short a few hours later the paper work is filled out and the truck is due to arrive 6 weeks later. Mine made it to Louisiana in 5. That was probably the longest 5 weeks of my life. Talk about some sleepless nights.

maybe a good thing, maybe a bad thing, i have 2 stories lol..

06X - i used to work at david maus toyota and when i worked there i knew all about the X but only saw 2 come in. well i quit that b/c it was 65hrs a week and i had to go to school full time too. a year later i walked in and said hey to all of my ex-co-workers and caught up on life with them, then one of the sales managers asked me what i was here to buy (knowing that i wasn't just coming to the dealership with intentions of 'just sayin hi') well i told him it was time for that truck i've always dreampt about. he ran in and got the keys knowing it was a sold vehicle already. i test drove it and it was amazing as i remembered from before, then we got to the paperwork. David Maus himself worked 6 days a week there and just so happened to recognize me sitting at the table waiting for my 'employee discount' well they came back with some ridiculous numbers as i expected, i was workin OTD price. they started at 27k and change.. well after a while i got them to 25,500 and that wasn't good enough, i wouldn't buy the truck if i couldn't get them to 25k. well david maus passed by again and i asked him if he would 'ok' the 25k OTD price. well he said yes, i got my truck.

November 9th and many hours of modifications later, its totalled..

november 30th, i get a call from state farm insurance giving me my final quote on how much they will be giving me for my totalled truck. well i got 25,008 from insurance. that includes tax and such, though it doesn't include any re-embursement for modifications.

last day of the month, best day to buy a car...

after finishing up at a clients house, i went home, took the fastest shower of my life and had my dad meet me there, we took the rental (07 maxima sweet car, but nothin like an X) we went back to david maus toyota. well they have 5 06X's no 07's. Xrobber had informed me that there were 2 BSP and 2 RR Xr's at Courtesy toyota about 20 miles away. well i told david maus toyota that i wanted the same deal minus the depreciation for it being last years model year. well they played games and games and games and there was a 1k rebate on the 06's well that would've made my previous deal 24k OTD. they agreed to give it to me for that. i wouldn't pay that. its the same deal i did 5 months before. i told them i wanted it for 23k really wanting 23,500 and i'd be out of their hair. THANK GOD they didn't give me that deal.. well after going back and forth and going through 3 sales managers, 2 GSM's and David Maus himself again, i decided i'd call courtesy. well i knew a GSM over there b/c my dad bought his D-cab there and i was attempting to work a deal on my 06 there too. that guy transferred to a dealership in NC. that doesn't help me one bit. well i got connected with the internet sales manager. this guy was amazing! we worked the deal on an 07 RR over the phone, he e-mailed the entire deal sheet to my dad's blackberry and the OTD price on an 07 with 4 miles on it was 23965. not to mention the fact that i didn't have to haggle with him. i called him, said he this is where im at, i need to beat that. he called me back 5 mins later with that answer. we drove over there, after paperwork it was awesome.

sorry for the book, i like sharing these stories in full :top:

I started out looking to replace my 89 toy pu that I had for 17 yrs. I wanted an extra cab. I was looking for a S Runner in 04 and could not find anything. Went to Dodge and they didn't have any 5spd cub cabs Dakotas. All they had was 4 doors automatic. When Toyota came out with the New style Tacomas I was looking for a V6 extra cab manual and all they had was automatics, test drove it, it was ok but wanted a manual tranny and a 2X4. I ended up test driving all the models except the XR. The XR was too expensive in my mind. Three dealers later checked to see if they had any manual AC Tacomas with a V6 2X4 again. All they had were automatics and 4X4's. The sale person asked if I would consider buying a XR. If I was considering it they have one on the lot that I can test drive only if I was serious about buying a truck. I told him I'm game. when I test drove the X-Runner I was really impressed with it. It was the pearl black with leather seats, after markets rims..... They were asking $29k for it. They wouldn't budge on the price or the % on the finance. I didn't buy that night but had the XR FEVER. 2 weeks later found one that I liked(SWB) and the rest is history.
