tell us your story about how you came to getting yer x-runner, share you feelings and anything else you like.

I first saw the truck about 2 or 3 years ago and when I saw it my jaw just dropped and my head did a full 180 because I couldn’t keep my eyes off it until it was out of sight. after that my friend told me it was the new
s-runner so I looked for it on the internet and found out what it really was. then I joined the army and was deployed to oif 5 (operation Iraqi freedom) which was pretty hard.. on my free time I would go on the internet too look into vehicles to buy when I returned too the states... I looked at all kinds of vehicles and at that time I forgot about the x-runner but in a care package I received a few car magazines and I cant remember which magazine it was but it said the Tacoma was the truck of the year and that’s when the memory of first seeing the x-runner came too me right then I new what I wanted and wanting that truck out there in the desert were one of the few things that kept me motivated. when ever I had the chance I would read up on the x-runner and how it had a beefier suspension and how It can handle as well as car such as the Nissan 350z… I just wanted it more and more.
When I got back too the states I went straight too the closest Toyota dealership, but they didn’t have it.. My dad ended up finding one up near where he worked and took me too it when he got off.. Man I was so nervous I couldn’t drive it at first so I let my dad test drive it for me and right when we pulled out of the drive way my heart sank and I fell in love hahaha I don’t know what it was.. If it was the truck or just the fact that I made my first big purchase but I was one happy doode!! And that’s my story with me and my truck lovin it more and more so the main reason why I bought it was the performance I had no intentions on making it a show truck but it can do just as well, that’s how beautiful the x-runner is!!
Next story I hope this wasn’t too cheesy

i was never a truck person. in fact, i despised trucks. but the concept X-Runner looked great, and it was only available in a 6sp man tranny. i waited until it was released to the public, and once i saw that it was virtually unchanged, i started to lust after it... party because it was such a great looking vehicle, and partly because i was over my honda and the "boy racer" label that was put on me.

fast forward a year and a half... i got a new job which would allow me to start building my credit. my prelude was in a small accident and needed to be repaired and a whole repaint. i just put a new header on that wasn't smog legal, and i had to smog it... i noticed that both front cv joints were shot, as well as some other minor things that i didn't have time to fix... i'm driving around getting estimates on fixing my car, and next thing i know, i'm at the toyota dealership taking the XR for a test drive. i ended up driving it home that day. :)

Here's my story: The first time I saw a X-Runner was at the local auto show they have every year at the Phoenix Civic Center. I go with my family to this every year. We walked into the Toyota exhibit and I just saw a large crowd around what looked to be just a normal radiant red Tacoma. We walked up behind them and we saw what it actually was..the X-Runner. It was love at first sight lol. At the time I was driving a 2000 Tacoma Prerunner. My whole family loves the Tacomas, I have one, my Dad has one, and my brother has one. After learning about it and all the features it holds above the regular Tacomas, I wanted one more than anything. Now I was only 17, still in high school, and worked a part time job, so a $25,000 truck was a lot to me. I talked to my parents and told them I would get another job, keep my grades up, and sell my truck now to help pay for it. They said that was fine since I could just make payments on it. So next we contacted all the local dealerships and none of them even knew what the X-Runner was. Finally we talked to a manager at another dealer and he knew all about them but said they were extremely hard to find (it was early 2005 keep in mind). He said all he could do was keep an eye out for one and if he found it, he would give us a call. My hopes weren't to high after this. I was dissappointed to say the least. I thought I would never get one. So a couple months went by and all I did was look on the internet for one. That's how I found CT. I joined and researched all about them. So one Saturday I was sitting at home and the phone rang. I picked it up and he asked for my Mom. I told him she wasn't home and asked if I could take a message. He said, "Yeah, this is blah blah from Larry Miller Toyota and I'm calling in regards to the X-Runner you guys ordered in March. Well a brand new radiant red X-Runner just rolled off the truck and you were the first one on the list of orders. Are you still looking to buy one?" I was so excited I just started shaking and told him yes I'm interested. Then he said I had to come down as soon as possible and put a down payment on it since there were a bunch of other people that are looking for one. I told him I'd be right down. I called my mom on her cell and told here the news. She was really excited for me too. Her and my Dad met me down at the dealer to go see it. I was driving on a back road behind the dealer and saw my red X sitting parked in the back parking lot. I almost went off the road cuz I just coulnd't take my eyes off it. We put the down payment on it and the next morning we went and picked it up. Almost 2 years later...it's got 14,000 miles and I love it more and more every time I drive it.

Well I was overseas in Korea and I was looking in to a new car to replace my 87 firechicken when I got stateside, then I got depolyment orders. So I went to Iraq and keep looking for the car I wanted. I had a long list of sport cars and trucks, so I narrowed it down to the S2000 or a dodge dakota. Then my dad was like look into a yota so i did and I saw it a SWB X-runner pic. It replaced the dodge dakota on my list real fast. So I was left with the choose between the S2000 and the X because I couldn't have them both. So I made a list of pros and cons and choose the truck because of room with all the moving I did while in the army. So around march 05 or so I called up the parents and was like take this much money of mine and find my a Toyota X-Runner in SWB. They said they would, but when I came home on r&r in may they still hadn't found one in blue for me. I go to a few dealers when i'm home and they were like "oh no we can't order or find one of those" So I go back to Iraq all sad like and thinking I wouldn't get one. Then on July 4th weekend my parents go to visit so fam in fresno and my dad tells my mom to go and trade in her 4runner (it had just turned 100,000 miles but had been having problems with it) So she took my brother-in-law to the yoda dealer and as they drive on to the lot they see it sitting there. My 05 SWB X-runner. My mom look and my brother-in-law and was like "is that" and he was like "it is". So my mom goes to the saleperson and asked if it had sold and he said no not yet, so my mom said well take it and I want a new 4runner to. I called a few days later and my parents played me bad say that they where just going to give up and I'll never get it. So in Augest I get back from Iraq and fly home for a few weeks and as we drive down the drive way I see it. So i hit my dad and sis for lieing to me and run over to and check it out. It was the best day in the whole world. And then later on that week my brother-in-law tought me to drive it, since I didn't know how to drive a stick shift. So that's my story on how i got my truck. Oh and after I put 3000 miles on it i decided to put it into the shop for a few months and get it bagged.

but as for my story ... one day i was going to camarillo CA, with my family and i saw a BSP Tacoma X-runner hop onto the freeway ... and yes love at first site ... i thought the truck was fixed up since i didnt even know about the XR it was the first time seeing it back in 05 ... a year passes and my camry started giving problems and i talk my parents into getting me a new car ... by this time was Feb of 06 and i forgot about the XR completly ... i was calling honda dealers looking for a 06 black civic SI ... and i was on a honda dealers website looking at the used cars and on the internet they had a SWB X for sale ... and thats when i remembered about the X ... i dropped all the honda calls and started calling toyota ... no one had it ... weeks pass and me n my family go to lexus since my dad wanted me to get a IS300 used ... so we were walkin by the used cars and since toyota was right beside lexus they had a used RR Xrunner ... i test drove it and fell in love ... but i wanted a SWB cuz of its unique color ... well the salesman looks in the system and it shows there is one SWB on the lot and he starts looking but cant find it ... he says he will call us tomm when he figures out were it is ... well tomm comes and he calls and says he found the XR ... it was at the lexus body shop hiding .... another salesman tried hiding it for a customer ... make a long story short ... me n my mom goes to toyota and signs the paperwork that night ... and i took delivery on Feb 29, 06 ... and im still in love with that truck

I was looking at RSX's and Ridgelines and as i was doing some research into turbo set ups for each car, i came upon ststurbo.com. One there was a video of a turbo 04 prerunner messing around in the sand so i sent it to my friend to see. He was like "The tacoma is nice, did you ever consider looking at them?" i didnt at the time but after that i started doing some research and slowly fell in love with the x. About 5 months later, theres a RR in my driveway! Im so happy i went to that site and saw that video. I cant thank my friend enough for saying those simple words that got my looking at tacomas. If it wasnt for him, i would have never discovered the xrunner.

I was looking for used 4x4 tacomas with no luck. So i decided to check out the toyota website for pricing on new tacomas. -- I was in a position at work that I was advancing quickly and getting frequent pay raises. I figured I could afford a new truck. -- This is when I discovered the x-runner. The looks caught my eye first. Then as I read up on it I found it was what I really wanted. Somthing sporty and fun. Manual transmission, semi-rare - I have still only seen 2 others in person - good handling - although anything was better in that aspect than my 91 corolla wagon with blown struts -- And it was in my price range. I started e-mailing local dealerships to see if I could get a test drive in one. No luck. they didn't have any and wouldn't bring in one unless I commeted to buy. So a few weeks go by and I get an e-mail from a dealer 40 miles south of me. They have one on the lot - a black one which is the color I wanted - So the next day I go look at it. Looks even better in real life than all the pictures I have seen. I take it for a test drive and love it even more. yada yada yada...life goes on, now I have a major addiction to spending thousands of dollars on mods for the X

I saw my first one just cruisin' Ebay. It was a SWB '05 in FL. I could not stop looking at all the pics everyday. One night I went to the local dealer just to see what they would give me for my leased Infiniti G35. I told the guy I was thinkin' about trading for SWB Xrunner, and I knew they didn't have any in stock because I looked online prior to going. He said, "actually I do have one in RR in back that we just got in. Do you want to drive it?" Duh, "yeah, I want to drive it." Long story short, not only did I drive it, I drove it straight home and I'm still drivin' it today. I only wish it were a double cab. If they made a dbl cab xrunner, I'd be all over it.
