Headrest mod complete!

OLD THREAD,

A few member's were inquiring about my self made headrest monitors. Here is that thread felllas.

Well, as most of you know, I started my headrest mod. Here is the progress so far.

1. We started with some 1/4 wood.
2. Built a frame
3. Cut out the heat channel
4. Cut out the hole for the wires.
5. Bolted it up
6. Covered it with the headrest.

I know its not the very best.....but I thank it came out better than I expected. Pretty good for a TO HELL WITH IT and do it mod. We just got one done tonight. Well work on the other one tommorrow as well as the wiring.

Here is what we started with....................

its is...but I haven't adjusted it yet...and we ran out of daylight. I have a little play to work with. Im sure it wont be totally strait....but it should be very close. I can adjust the foam....that is what really makes it look crooked. Now that I look at it....doesn't look like it seated right. Ill fix it tomorrow....to tired tonight. We still have to run the wires and stuff anyway. Thanks bro.

haha well i wanna watch to

This is officially cool because you have little ones (well... minus the porn part ).

What audio guys said it couldn't be done? 2006nightrider got headrest monitors quite some time ago :dontknow:

Also, is the fabric the only thing holding that wooden frame in place?... or is there a plate hidden somewhere in the foam where it bolts onto?

Looks great so far man!!!!

Yea I had 8" in mine, but I also had aftermarket headrests...Putting 7" in the factory headrest is pushing it, but it can be done. As you can see, mine were a little wider then factory, and not as deep:

Ah... I didn't know you had different headrests. I'll have to check the pics when I get home.

Anyway, any car audio shop that says and believes the word "can't" sucks. Can't is what it's all about... making the impossible (or what seems impossible) happen. That's exactly what Ketchup has done here. I know people (including myself) that have experienced a few lazy shops like that and it gets under my skin, especially when I can go home and figure out what they just didn't care enough to even try. Bothers me that they're even in business:motz:

Kudos to you again brotha :top:

The audio guys was an audio store here in EP. They wanted to do custom mounts over head out of fiberglass. They said I would have to buy the monitors that already come in the headrest. I think they just wanted my money. NO....it was no one in XRU.

As for the wood, we actually just glued in in place and the fabric is holding it. The monitor is bolted to the frame. It seems to be pleanty sturdy. I do plan to take it back apart and adjust some of the padding to give it a better look. I ran out of time last night.
