exactly HOW hard would it be to swap in the 2UZ (toyotas 4.7 motor...known to be in the new 4runners, tundras, and sequoias)...because i know the 4R and the taco engine bay is pretty much the same...it should be able to fit in with little problems...but what about after that??

There have been 4.7L V8s swapped into the Gen II Taco. So that has been done.

The downside is that the 4.7L V8 is one of the worst engines Toyota has put into a truck. It really lacks the durability needed to make some real power unless you build it. The 4.0L V6 makes more power stock and almost as much torque so there is no real advantage to going through the trouble of doing a 4.7L swap.

You will never get the power out of a non-built 4.7 as I am getting out of my 4.0L with the URD Supercharger on it.

I had a conversation with a company that is working on a V8 engine swap for the XRunner. It is using an LS-6 Corvett type engine. Things seem to be going smooth with just a few bumps to work through.

I was asked to help work through some of the electronic issues. Sounds like fun to me.

In addition to this swap, I have been approached about marketing a kit that is being developed for a Turbo Supra engine (2JZ-TE) swap into the new Tacoma. This company is looking for help with the engine management setup and marketing the kit through URD.

So, how about some feedback on the interest in doing either of these to engine swaps. Let me know what you all think about this.

Any word on the progress development of a 2jz swap. I'm would be really interested. What would the price be to have something smiliar to the 03 2jz s-runner that was for sale on e-bay.

I passed on the info from this thread to the folks that are doing this.

If there is any new info I will pass it on right away.

Seems most are more interested in a Supra swap.

Nice idea. What about the 4.7 out the 4Runner and through in a supercharger. Engine ciompartment should be same size as the 4.0 is in already.:dontknow: We need more opinion.

I think I'm going to hold off on engine mods and just do a complete 2jz swap in a couple of years. I miss boost.

Anyone know roughly how much a 2jz swap would be and would it produce better gains then turbo charging 4.0L motor. What is the advantage to going with a single turbo 2jz opposed to twin turbo?

with a single turbo 2jz the possibilities are endless. they are notorious for high horsepower all on the stock bottom end. i dont care what the price, its totally worth it.

I'll like the Supra Engine and trany as a kit for the truck! the LS-6 is powerful and all but I don't think it will be affordable or too practical. I think with the 2JZTE the truck can remain more of a daily driver even if fuel prices go back up.

Are you kidding me? An LS swap is much more affordable then a 2JZ. Figure you buying a bone stock 2JZ with stock twins making a little over 300hp at the crank. Stock for stock, the LS is more powerful then a 2jz. Plus it takes a lot less to make more hp with the LS then the 2jz. I love the 2jz motor, don't get me wrong. But it's just the more expensive route.
