I'm having a problem here...
if your kid was 17, had a 2005 SWB X-runner, completely stock, would you let him drag race on a drag strip?

we arent allowed to at the strip here, you have to have a parental consent sheet signed and notarized.... they are very strict with all the rules and stuff

i was racing old whitey when i was 16. my mom never had a problem with it because i was at a legal place to race. the street racing gig was a different story. i think the better you can drive you vehicle the better chance you have of making a better decision under stress.

they think that once i get a taste of speed, going down the strip, that may transfer into how i drive every day. ex: timing street lights, launching off the line, stuff like that

the more your parents shadow you the more you will want to. my mom never said dont drink or dont race or dont ride wheelies etc.. she just said to be careful and call her if i needed anything.

If it prevented him from racing on the street...sure.

Edit: Dammit, voted wrong. Put my vote towards "Yes, once he learned how to run properly"

id say go for it i ran in my high school class. and to one of the poll options you will never know how to do it right it you dont go out there and do it. sitting at the tree with no one around you is diffrent from sitting at the tree with a car next to you and a buch of people watching you and saying damn that is a sexy truck

I'd say yes...

As long as they can fix and afford any mishaps with total independence and isn't an idiot behind the wheel :top:

Nothing worse than a person with a nice car running to someone else to fix their problem...

Get trained first. They basically let anyone drag out here in Vegas and I've seen a lot of inexperienced drivers go into the wall with their brand new rides.
