Way out the left field here but . . . why not skip the straight break, switch red for orange. Just sayin'

I defenitely prefer the white and black two tone over the orange. I would go with the pearl white and paint the hood, roof and tonneau bsp possibly with the evo mod, or pearl white with black stripes. Charcoal grey or burnt orange with bsp would look good as well. Just a thought.

Yo... thanks for the input, appreciated !

In terms of making the truck mostly white, as the truck is now basically a BSP, I plan on keeping it a BSP ... with white or burnt orange "accents". I want a black truck that knows its a black truck and looks like a black truck with appropriate accents. I don't want the accents to become the majority color stakeholder of the truck. Otherwise it turns into a situation that everytime I open the doors or open the hood, I peer into a black truck while almost everything else on the outside is white.

That, and as I noted to Super Werty, I want a snazzy look that's eye-catching, pleasing and modern, but not one that looks "really fast" (as the Evo mod would tend to do). I'm not supercharged and have no intent on becoming so, so a "fast" look would essentially be self-defeating.

As for charcoal grey, doesn't really stand out much on a black truck. Don't get me wrong, works great as racing stripes, but not so much as a two-tone where two tones tend to be more contrasting colors.

In terms of burnt orange, that was the direction I was originally going in. I was aiming towards the Atomic Orange of the 07-09 Corvette which is a burnt metallic orange.

Thanks, though, for the input ! Appreciated ! :top:

Left field ... ? Almost more like "across the ocean left field" ...

Thanks, though :top:

Hey, I just want to see you live out my dreams of picking and choosing any colour you can come up with. Haha. I kind of like the pic grumpy posted minus the white flames. Keeping your truck bsp with a red two tone ontop would be a nice choice. Especially in a gorgeous radiant red. Haha.

Ahh ... trying to live out your dreams vicariously through my truck ? :top:

Yeah, Grumpy's ride shot has some appeal ... but I think the rims on that beast would bankrupt me if the paintjob didn't :ahhhhh::laugh:

Hmmm ... would have to see a photoshop of that ... but would initially tend to lean towards the explanation I gave to SuperWerty against making the truck look "too fast" ... maybe a photoshop might change my mind ...

Geesh I already suggested that idea pages ago! :eviltongue:

Well you have the OE chrome wheels that came with the truck. Also a silver MX grill would totally clean up the front for a cleaner, sharper look. While the MS3 is not bad I prefer the idea of using a Toyota white pearl.

Maybe when you go to Finishmasters stop by a Toyota/Lexus dealer and see if they have any of that color on hand. Or check their websites ahead of time.

When it's all said and done I think going a route with paint colors that have not been done is a the best route. Imitation maybe the most sincere form of flattery but originality ain't bad either.

Yep, but I may have misinterpreted back then that your idea was to swap the black and white, with white above and black below. Either way, the black stays on top. And like I said, I want my black truck to stay black. The color on top tends to "dominate" the color theme of a two tone vehicle to me and that's especially important on a factory-painted vehicle since the door jams, engine compartment, bare cab, etc will all still be black.

While the MS3 is not bad I prefer the idea of using a Toyota white pearl. Maybe when you go to Finishmasters stop by a Toyota/Lexus dealer and see if they have any of that color on hand. Or check their websites ahead of time.

Since Finishmasters don't carry BASF Diamont / Onyx HD (what my body shop uses) I have to go to A-1 Paint and Supply on Lincoln / Country Club. That's where I've gotten all the paint for the burnt metallic orange spray-out sample panels. FM is a largely DuPont operation.

To be honest, I've found the folks at A-1 to be a lot more helpful. There's this one lady at FM who seems like she's on eternal PMS. In my limited experience I've used DuPont and BASF products and like them both but both also have their own quirks.

Either way, I've not worked with whites before, so I'll have to check into the white pearls and see how they apply and look in sunlight.

When it's all said and done I think going a route with paint colors that have not been done is a the best route. Imitation maybe the most sincere form of flattery but originality ain't bad either.

Well, yes and no. Being different is one thing, but if there is a proven model that works and works well, it's hard to justify being different just to be different if there isn't reason to believe that the different is better ... that's what this thread is for ... and so far, seems most folk like this particular flavor of different :top:

I never got this... why do this "evo" mod on the truck when the body kit has no grooves to bring the paint all the way down to make it evo??? This would be cool if you end the black paint at the grill...forget the rest. It's just too much with the grill, the valence, the bumper, the kit

I like the orange/black paint job.

I like the one on post 33 but loose the red stripe on the mag. Try a white stripe.

I like the white and black better, just a suggestion, but All white, with the BSP being the hood, roof, and evo mod would look killer!

possible the tailgait black too?

I agree to disagree on this one as custom paint jobs are subjective, reliant upon personal taste and I don't think they can truly be said to be a proven model one way or the other. Perhaps with monochromatic colors but with two tones I'd lean towards no.

I personally find white to be a cleaner look and more in line with what you have done to the truck, other cars and how you seem to view mods. An idea that just occurred to me is find a cheap set of OE wheels, spray them BSP and I think iyou'd end up with a damn nice looking X.

In the end I can't wait to see the final result.

Wait a sec how can they apply clearbra so soon after painting? Or they doing that after 60 days? Good thing you have 3 cars that way if it does have to sit you can do so.
