The pics do look nice but only b/c it's a concept. I do wish it comes out close to this, what kind of boxer engine will that be with no turbo? Sure there is always aftermarket but I want all these goodies out the factory.

Official: Subaru Coupe (FT-86/FR-S) Will Be Released in Spring 2012

Posted by admin

And now for some confirmation from Subaru regarding the release date of its upcoming sports coupe. The company has recently released an official press release promising four new models by 2016.
One of the models mentioned was their “jointly developed rear-wheel drive sports car” (the Subaru sports coupe version of the Scion FR-S / Toyota FT-86), which “will be launched in spring 2012.” This represents the first official date confirmation from Subaru.
Although several iterations of the Toyota FT-86 concepts have been shown, and the Scion FR-S concept has made its show debut, Subaru has only shown a skeletal/chassis/internals concept – the Subaru Boxer Sports Car Architecture at the Geneva show in Feb.
Both the Toyota FT-86 and the Subaru model are expected to make their debuts in December at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show."

If the actual car doesn't deviate too much from the concept car, it's a winner.

That car is sikk, sikk, sikk! About 80 degrees above badass! LOL :blurock:

I can't believe they're not putting any type of forced induction on it or the Subaru version, that's almost as weak as the 2012 Tacoma still having drum brakes. Ok maybe not at weak as the Tacoma still having drum brakes but close!

Drum brakes are for winners! They should upgrade the FT-86 because it is a sports car just like the XR is. :top:

i think jalopnik said it best,... perpetual concept cars. The started all of this before the Hyundai gensis coupe came out (08 i believe). Too little to late if you ask me. A turbo needs to be involved lol

well it along with the Subaru BRZ was at Frankfurt. we know all the specs. It jsut sucks that they were trying to make a car around the same time Hyundai was trying this 'budget sports car' thing out but Hyundai released their genisis coupe in 08 where as the toyota-subaru collation dragged it out 3 years to late. Yes the car looks nice, but 3 years later, Both cars are rwd (not 1 rwd 1 awd) Neither have a turbo. I dont see how they're just going to sell the car on looks and no performance. they barely got away with it with the Tc. This car is either going to save scion or kill it
