I know that URD offers a steering column pod . Good looking way to mount auxiliary gauges. The A-pillar has part of the curtain-side air bag IIRC.

I did this project the other day,and since I wanted to go back in and fix something I decided to take some pics and build a how-to thread.So here goes..
What you'll need:
1 small flat-head screwdriver
1 small philips-head screwdriver
1 torx driver or bit,size T-10
1 medium philips-head...

+1. I like the double DIN,and the factory finish of the center of the dash. I had a pillar pod in my Eclipse and loved it.Easy to see and read the gauges and added some style.
SO to add to this I got bored tonight and did the rest of the upper dash the way I wanted it.
Tore the radio apart and did this one....

i used the trim paint on my Eclipse ( the trim in front of the windshield is HUGE,and all black plastic. I did the windshield wipers as well ). It turned out really well,and held up well over time. I'd recommend it as well !
