I am looking for a used X to get sometime in the very near future. I was looking at some on autotrader and was wondering what set the 05 and 06's apart from the 07 and 08's. Ive heard the 05 and 06's were better to get, but i cant imagine toyota upgrading something like the X-Runner to make it worse than a previous model. Just wondering whether to look for an 05/06 or an 07/08. Thanks a bunch.

I believe the 08 has a teflon coating on the paint and some of the tranny issues have be worked out...but the '05 is the original and still the BEST!! :eviltongue:

The teflon coating is an aftermarket option. And the tranny is a little stiff brand new but breaks in about 1000 miles and feels like a dream

vsc- vehicle stability control is optional for all the years, cost quite a bit more too. 06+ have tire pressure monitoring. Im sure there are other subtle differences too but nothing too major.

yes, only 1 interior color for the X's all are the same.

one minor difference not mentioned between 05/06 and 07/08 is that the seats were widened a small amount on the 07/08 models and i've had both an 06 and 07 and i like the 06 seats better.. not a huge difference and u won't notice it.

i'd say just get the one u can get the best deal on..

Yeah, Its not goin to make a huge difference on what year. If you can get a new one, go for it. Start from scratch and make it your own.

yes.. its the same deal.. the select few xrunners that come with VSC come with a button to turn it off. basically.. it'll save ur ass if u mess up, but if u wanna mess around, u can still do so.

haha and to think all this time i was sad at the beginning cause i didn't get myself a BRAND NEW one and had to settle for an 06, but in reality, seems that more people like the 06 better! Now i feel like a winner again!!

The engine is the same. The difference is because of a change in the SAE horsepower testing procedure. The newer ratings (06+) are more accurate, an 05 tested with the new procedure would get the same results as 06+

There aren't any performance or body differences between the 05's and the 08's. Trust me. I owned an 05 and now I own an 08. Same exact truck. Only difference is the seat belt beeps when you don't have it on. That I eliminated. So if you are look for a good deal, get an older one. If not, buy a new one. :top:

Shoot! We got it off of toyotanation. I was gonna post the link, but apparently its down. When it's back up, I'll post it. Really easy to do. Takes about 3 min. to do or 5 for both seats.
