Avic Z3 parking break wire

Hey guys I'm in the middle of installing an avic Z3 unit in my 09 tacoma and I'm just curious if it's ok to just hook the parking break wire into the ground in the wiring harness so I can have full control of the dvd player while driving ? or does this not work ? And also in all the pictures I'v seen the wire for the reverse lead is red and white, but on my truck(2009)that wire is solid pink, would that be the same wire ?
