I have a new 2007 XR I got it with 10 miles on it. Now I my average mpg is 12.7... Is this normal? I was told it will improve over time. I need to get 14+ lol I live in los angeles and gas it 3.69 9/10 a gallon. Either way I don't care about the price I just want to find out if this is normal.
I spend about 25 minutes each way to work in traffic.
Please any oppinion appreciated.

according to my scangauge I've haven't gotten more than 14mpg :frown: (I never took the time to calculate how many miles I get on a tank) I almost never get on the freeway because they usually go out of my way and cause me to drive further than I'd have to on city streets.

I'm sure the leadfoot and the rims don't help at all. :rolleyez:

I need to make a correction I just checked my MPG and am getting 14.47 I was not caculating correctly earlier sorry.

The question was more ot do with the breakin period! It it true my gas millege will improve after break in? How long does break in last?

Thanks Again

I don't drive like a grandpa by any means, maybe this is why my MPG is so good.

I drive at interstate speeds (55-65 MPH) almost everywhere I go so maybe I get better then average MPG?

It also depends on your driving habbits - how good of a manual driver you are, and how well you time red lights and stopped traffic ahead so you don't have to come to a stop yourself.

Stop & go kills your MPG - keep her rolling!

Outside temperature makes a big difference. I get 19-20 in the summer, but only 15-16 in the winter. It runs richer longer to warm up the truck when it's cold.

I live in the L.A. area and drive about 97% city (work is only about 8 minutes each way). If I don't do any freeway driving, I get about 12.3 to 13 MPG (about 200 to 230 miles per tank). Haven't had a chance to check on mileage since the cat-back exhaust install (been taking some longer drives on the weekends so can't base the mileage on anything).
I always thought the MPG sucked... but I didn't get the X for the mileage!

Highway doesn't improve? I get about 200-230 driving pure city and about 300 if pure highway.

I have a 07 with about 18000 miles, before 15000 miles or so I was getting about 17-19 mpg highway and now I get 22-23 mpg highway.
I run 3 ounces of acetone per 10 gallons of gas it helps alot in town but not so much on the highway. I also notice a differance if I set the cruise everywhere I go and shift at 2000 rpm's mpg goes up.

I also seem to pull down about 15.5-17.5 in mostly local driving. The strange thing is that the best I have ever gotten was when I first bought the truck and the dealer had filled it up. That tank was 18.5 mpg. I'm looking forward to my first road trip to see what I can pull off.
