Cam sensor error

My check engine light came on. I went to my local garage and they ran the codes and its my camshaft sensor says the camshaft is retarding. The truck has 54k miles and the guy said it's most likely oil on the camshaft sensor but he would have to pull it apart to find out the actual cause. i have found the truck to be driving normally.

Is this common with our trucks, or has anyone else come across this? I got a new job and dont have time to be messing with it right now but my drive to work is an hour and dont want to damage the truck.

That is the second one I have heard of since 2005.

At 54,000 miles you are still in warranty, maybe, so have the dealer fix that for you.

If it is under warranty, take it to the dealer. If not, then just pull the sensor off and possibly replace it.
