December 2012 : TOP RIDE
Kevin's 2005 Speedway Blue X-Runner
The Story behind the Ride:
It all started off one evening, 3 1/2 years ago, browsing CL ads and EBAY, looking for my first car. At the time, I had several friends with 240sx who were into drifting, and naturally, they were pushing me to get one as well. I was more leaning toward building a Pre-Runner like every other guy under 25y/o in So-Cal... Late that night, I was sent a grainy quality, video from back in the day... About 30 seconds into the video, a RR XR slides into the picture. What!?!?!? Me being a huge Tacoma fan, I had no idea why this one had a body kit, and why it was out sliding at the track. I did some research, and found out about the X-Runner, and knew that from that moment on, I had to get one! Found one local, good price, (high miles...), figured it was a Toyota, and high miles shouldn't be an issue...Shortly after getting it, the transmission started acting up, and it started leaking oil from the the timing chain cover...Great, I bought a freakin lemon...But I ignored it, and started Autocrossing and Drag racing it in a local racing series. Stock LSD starting acting up now, and being around drifters, they implanted the idea of a welded diff in my head... I found this site shortly after, and got some great info on how to fix a few of my trucks "issues". After that, it was all history. Thanks to you guys, and pushing me to tinker and fix my truck, it even lead to my career choice as a Toyota/Lexus technician! This is one of those cases, where XR-U literally changed someones life. The mod bug bit me next...and boy, did it bite
me, HARD!!!! But... I followed one simple rule.... Function>Form.

As this months Top Ride winner Kevin will also be receiving a prize package courtesy of XII Performance.
I'd also like to take a moment to apologize to Kevin for the late posting of this thread. For Klint & I work has really ramped up in the weeks leading up to the holidays leaving limited time for XRU tasks. Thank you for your patience.
