What is the difference between long tube and shorty headers, other than the obvious. What performance benefits for each type????

Not to sure about the performance benefits of each, but the shorties will allow you to put cats on your system. A must if you live in CA or other state that requires smog certification. Not sure if it will pass visual.

If you're just going to swap back to stock every time you smog, then it doesn't matter.

There are 4 cats on the X. If you go with the long tube, you need to relocate the O2s and the power band is different. Loose at the bottom end but gain after 3000 rpm. I don't think that the short tube are worth the money. Your exhaust manifold as the cats welded to them. You would have to cut them off and weld them to the short tube. Not sure if you would pass emission test with just the 2 back ones.
