i thought bump stops helped to make is softer and not so rough of a ride?:hmmmm2:

bump stops are to help protect from straight frame to axle contact, which wont be the case if they are removed. it acts kind of like a cushion for the frame.

I believe shocks are what you are thinking of to make the ride smoother

won't it just hit the frame directly if you remove them? or are the bumps that big?

I was hittin frame with 2.25" blocks with bump stops removed

I've heard of people using a piece of tire or rubber instead of bump stops to create more clearance. I don't think its recommended but it does give you that extra inch. Low pro bump stops will do the trick too..GLWS
