hid relay?

I just bought some new hid's They are 55watt 10000k , Was looking at the install directions and it says something about a relay, and shows some diagrams but I can't make heads or tails from it. Is there a post on here on how to make the relay ? and is it really needed?

4300K are brighter...the K is just a matter of color, higher K is NOT brighter...
