Pics of my 8" lilliput touchscreen with a custom pc that I built that runs off of a regulated 12v dc power supply. My fabricator could have done better on the dash piece but you can order double din touchscreens.

PC Enclosure

Here's the pc case. Sorry it's a little dirty but it's been under my seat for awhile.
It's a Voom pc2 enclosure bout the size of a small amplifier made out of 5.5mm thick extruded aluminum

do you still have use of your steering wheel controls?

Our steering wheel controls are waayyyyyyy over complicated than they need to be. I have pulled apart my steering column to install a controller between that and the PC, and no dice. Its not a simple button push system, its almost like a pressue sensitive circuit board in there. I'm assuming it can be done, but I gave up 3 years ago trying to get it to work.

Lance, how do you like that case? I ran smaller cases like that a few years ago, (shit..its almost been 5 years now, that's sad) and had a number of heat problems with them on long trips (12+ hours of driving). Plus I got sick of working with such a small chassis when I wanted to upgrade parts, or tinker with the setup. Your going to want to build some type of "suspension" for that as well. Hitting bump stops, pot holes, etc WILL take a tole on your hardware and cause issues over time, just trust me on this. I put a memory foam pillow under my case and have had zero problems since.
