I just got a used short shifter in the mail (thanks DS) but i was wondering about the lubrication at the end of the shaft that actually penetrates the tranny... it doesn't seem to have a lot left and I was thinking about using some high temp bearing grease. Is this an appropriate application?

Clean it all off good, and put some White Lithium Grease on there.

They sell it in a small tube at autozone etc... Made my permatex I believe

some use regular grease, but IMO the white lithium stays cleaner and I also dont like the fact that a glob of bearing grease is in my tranny.

I'd go with white lithium. You can get it in a tube like Rich said or in a spray can at pretty much any auto parts store.

the lube in the tube is alright but if you live in a dry area like Vegas or Arizona I've scene tubes closed correctly completely dry out...so I used the spray cause that will last longer and give you a better coating...
