Motor replacement info needed..

Hey guys,

Is there anything different in the 4.0L motor from the years 07 - 14 ? - they changed the body style obviously but i need to know if a 2012 donor 4.0L will work in a 2009 ?

I know the ecu connectors changed in 09. Other then that there is no difference. Since your an 09 and the motor is from a 12 you should be fine

The engine itself should be the exact same. Only accessories were changed.

Don't forget about that amazing emissions device added to the exhaust.

They also put a bigger throttle body which is why it makes a little more power. Some other small differences that won't really let you tune them as easy. Buy a m120 motor and drop it in !!!!! Can you say Pagani truck !

Larger throttle body is only on the dual VVT-I 1GR.

yes the dual vvti 1GR in the late model fj's and 4runners won't work but if it is from a 12 tacoma and being put in a 09 tacoma it will work. The oil pans on the non X trucks are different but other than that should be the same engine wise
