Almost done, gotta make adapters to put the 6 1/2" comp's in the front doors. Went pretty smooth otherwise. May tint my tails today :D

My whole interior pretty much gutted!

My new speakers, Type R 6 1/2 rears, Type S comps up front.
IMG00105-20090926-1118.jpg

Ported DVC Type R 12" sub running at 2ohms. And the big daddy batcap!
IMG00106-20090926-1119.jpg

Alpine 500W class D sub amp and 200w 4 channel
IMG00107-20090926-1119.jpg

Only the best monster cables will do!
IMG00108-20090926-1121.jpg

Prepping the rear factory speaker pod to accept the type R. DO NOT BUY ADAPTERS! :stupid:
IMG00111-20090926-1434.jpg

What a nice flat spot for a fuse! Anyone know what those bolt holes at the fuse blocks 4 o'clock are for?!?
IMG00113-20090926-1727.jpg

The type R installed and sounding 500x better than stock!
IMG00114-20090926-1728.jpg

The 4 channel, installed under the pass seat.
IMG00115-20090926-1728.jpg

The sub amp under the drivers seat. I screwed the amps into the carpet only and they stay VERY well.

Thanks for all the replys! I am going to try to use the factory brackets in the front for tweeters and for my speakers. Riding around looking for sheets of ABS plastic on a sunday is not the best idea! LOL

i just used plexigrass and made it the same as the factory twetter mounts worked amazing :top:

Great job and clean looking.... for better sound quality i would run new speaker wire throughout the truck its a pain in the arse, but i have heard of alot of people having weird sound issue lol when they used the factory prewiring. i ran 12guage throughout.

Looks great though and for the front mounts i used 3/4" MDF and it work awesome bro. the speaker has to be right up against the door or you will get acoustic echoe which sounds like the speaker is out of phase and really annoying.

i like the way you used the rear stock speaker mounts and how you ran you wires very nice job

keep us posted :top:

my attempt to build my own adapters for the 6 1/2's failed so I will be ordering those form tacotunes. BUT............. check out my tweeter install :D:crinklehair:

Here is the basic stock tweeter, yes im gonna re use those mounts! not cuz im cheap, cuz i'm macgyver! :top:
IMG00118-20090927-1417.jpg

I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to remove the old tweeter. Be sure to get the bottom as flush as you can.
IMG00119-20090927-1429.jpg

The Alpine tweets have a threaded body and clamp ring, how convienient!
IMG00120-20090927-1435.jpg

All screwed in and ready to go.

Hopefully your tweeters wont melt or burn like my Alpine Type X's...

Everything looks really clean though especially at the amps. for the front speaker mounts, make a cutout of the stock speaker mount onto some MDF. That was it will bring the speaker closer to the door and it will sound better.

I got a 400w CVR 10" and a 500w sony amp to power it, not too much bass, just right. Got it all in the SubX enclosure, which is also pretty much perfect for our trucks.

that is a nice amp, I wouldnt get rid of it

that amp paired with a 10" type R in a sealed box, is a nice sounding setup.

I have put that in a few trucks and have been impressed every time.

being ported in a truck this small could be really loud and you could get alot of port noise

I think once i get my fronts in and can lower the volume it wont be so bad. Push to shove that little gain knob can always come down from "11." LOL
