Should I use dealer engine oil and filter or is it worth paying the extra money to buy trd filter and run synthetic?

Synthetic will only benefit your motor.

I am an Amsoil guy myself.

once you go synthetic you cant go back to normal oil. always buy the dealer filter its the best one out of the rest IMO besides the filter is only like 4 bucks the same amount as the ones in autozone

Sorry that whole no regular oil after sythetic stuff just isn't true. If is was you have flush out your engine with synthetic after switching from conventional.

But I'd go sythetic. :top: Either mobile or amsoil whatever you choose.

Speaking of oil, I put some Mobil 1 SuperSyn, and Mobil 1 SuperSyn Oil Filter just last oil change. They say it doesn't need to be changed for 10,000 miles. Not sure if I should wait for 10,000 miles, or just go every 5,000. Any thoughts?

The amsoil is rated for a 25,000 mile drain intervals and I drop it at 8,000 based on oil tests I have done on my oil now and then.

Mind you that I put a extremely hard supercharged 8,000 miles on the truck. It is not daily driven, and when it is driven its being romped on. It sits for a long period of time and then gets romped on, that will break down oil real quick from condensation build up and use.

What I am getting at is....

It all depends on how you drive it. Your driving habbits will dictate your drain interval.

That 10,000 mile rating is not a severe service drain interval.

Id say to drop it at 3-5,000.

I use Amsoil oil with a K&N filter and change it every 5K. I drive my truck hard too

Synthetic is the only way to go and do not use that cheap Yota brand

Changing oil and filter is the cheapest insurance you can get on your motor.

In a new vehicle, I change oil at 100 miles, 500 miles, 3,000 miles and every 3k after that. Maybe it's overkill, but overkill is better than an oil related failure.

Oil Grade

What grade of mobil 1 synthetic do I use. I had the dealer change my oil the first time around.

Toyota's filter has a anti leak valve in it that helps keep oil from draining down from the topside of your engine, thats always a plus on those cold morning starts.
