Over the Christmas break I installed Rotora 6 piston calipers with 355mm rotors on my Tacoma. I thought I'd post my experience here on XRU since this more of a performance oriented crowd.
Why?
Highlights: the caliper has 2 separate circuits to bleed. Meaning they apply pressure from both sides (inner and outer pads) for greater stopping power. Plus the calipers are really lightweight. The rotors are thick, and ready for some heavy duty braking sessions. Mounting brackets fit very tightly against the vehicle and the calipers for precise fitment.
A couple weeks of driving after a good brake bedding session, they feel stronger every time I drive my truck. It takes a while to adjust to the shorter stopping distance. A great compliment to the surpercharger upgrade. I'm not paid or sponsored by Rotora but after some searching for Tacoma BBK's, they were one of the few that offer a complete front kit for Tacomas and 4 runners. The only company to offer this caliber for our application. They seem to have a big following in the import car market. The people I dealt with are really nice, and were very responsive to my questions.
These are my favorite posts. 100% positive product experiences.
Why?
- I did it because I know my stock brakes are barely up to the task of stopping my truck with my race car in tow.
- With the supercharger installed I wanted to balance the equation of acceleration & stopping distance.
- The looks of a 2 piece rotor and huge caliper.
