trd air vs. regular paper air filter

TRD, K&N (if oiled correctly), AFE any of those filters will be better then the stock

Yes you do. You just don't have an aftermarket one installed.

As other people have noted, pretty much any kind of aftermarket performance filter will be better than stock.

But at $75 it would really be worth it to get the full TRD Intake, then you'll realize the full performance gain.

I heard it sounds really mean too ;)

You heard right :rock:. I agree with everyone. It would be better to just save up for the TRD CAI :top:.

If he has to deal with CARB exemption, then an aftermarket intake isn't really an option. There is only one intake that I know of that is carb exempt, and I wouldn't run it honestly.

I thought the TRD intake was carb legal as long as it was by itself.

Nah the TRD CAI doesn't come with the CARB sticker and it says its for OFF Road use only.
