Yeah thats a future investment for me, the v1 did give me a chance to go from 30 over to 20 over so i guess it wasnt a totall loss

Instant on radar is as fast as laser in speed acquisition (you wont even be able to drop 1 MPH off your speed). If you are the target in the crosshairs - its over no matter what radar detector you have.

Instant on is a feature found in almost every modern radar gun, police are just lazy and choose not to use it.

Lucky for us :-D

That's why you always speed with a rabbit in-front of you.

If your detector is good enough to pick up the instant on pulse, it will save your ass when your rabbit gets hit with instant on first.... If you are the first guy, then its game over; you wont have any time to react.

Instant on radar is the biggest threat to speeders, we can jam laser.

what device do u use to jam laser?

If you have a detector you want to try out come on up man, we will play cops and speeders.

Its pretty hilarious when the cops stop by and ask wtf we are doing.

Where in Ny are you? id love to just see your truck in person...Cant find any X runners in dealers or lots in NYC...atleast i havent seen any...

Dont waste your money on anything less then an escort or a bel.

Laser interceptor looks very nice. Is that the top of the line product? which one do u have?

It is the best jammer out (top of the line), this is the one I use.

The cop was 'doing you a favor' then brother!

Here is a video i made demoing instant on:

*keep in mind your radar detector wont even alert you IF it picks this quick burst up until about a second AFTER I pull the trigger (after you hear that short squeal).

This is how fast Instant on Ka is...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQfIHaj7s0U

This will show you how much of a delay there is between the squeal and the actual detection, this also shows you how often the Escort 8500 X50 picks up instant on vs. the V1 ;) (pretty scary):

The Valentine display is on top of my steering column, the escort is on the windshield off to the right....

Total of 7 Shots:

Valentine One: Alerted 7 Times
Escort 8500 X50: Alerted 2 Times...

Be happy you own a V1... But realize what a threat Instant on is, and how fast it is!!! Drive accordingly

Imagine how vulnerable we are hauling ass down a highway late at night (only one on the road)

V1 is well worth it to me. I could of bought 3 of these. I have the v1 with the the under mirror mount. Pretty sleek.

The only think sucks is that CHP is now using LIDAR and the V1 does not pick it up so you gotta be careful, a new technology they are using now. V1 needs to update their stuff.

V1 saved me a bunch a times and is well worth it. Good thing radar is legal in my state.

V1 definitely does pick up laser, its the best at detecting laser out of all the detectors (perhaps too good).

laser/lidar technology has been around commonly on the road for about a decade (more sparse in some areas then others).

Your V1s laser optics are blocked/blinded by its mounting position... Or they are not shooting at you. A Police 'laser' gun is a focused narrow beam of IR light (like a TV remote control), and the lens of the V1 needs an unobstructed/un-tinted field of view to 'see' this light.

Detecting it wont do you much good anyway if you are the target... Invest in a jammer.

Below the mirror on our truck is a terrible mounting position for a laser detector, its subjected to a large amount of solar glare off the hood scoop.

What happens if we get stopped because a cop realizes we have a jammer in NY?

Where do you mount ur V1?

not my truck...but I have my V1 mounted under the rear view mirror using a blendmount (SG2 on top and V1 on the bottom: just below the tint line)...

I have mine hardwired into the roof console, and the detector is about 4" below the mirror

I usually jam them until I slow down to the posted speed limit, then i switch the jammer off. This allows them to acquire my speed eventually (just when im not speeding).

In NY a laser jammer is not illegal, yet...

I am yet to be pulled over for jamming laser, I have even jammed it a few times down to point blank (to the gun/officer) speeding in a off hours workzone though. It's too tempting to have a little fun with them... Be careful though, police can pull you over based on visual speed estimation as well.

My V1 is mounted just below the tint band off to the right (passenger side area) of the rear view mirror.

The hood scoop on our truck reflects a lot of light back, intense solar light (sunlight reflecting off the raised hoodscoop, or when the sun is low on the horizon) blinds laser sensors (IR light receivers) very easily. In front of the hood scoop (below the mirror) therefore is not the most ideal place.

The suction cups are in the tint band, with the actual lens of the detector hanging just below it biased to the passenger side (out of line from the scoop).

The laser jam heads/sensors are leveled in the lower grille.

I thought police aim their radar gun at your front license plate, headlight, or grill so the infrared will bounce back to give them a reading of how fast you are going.

I don't know about jamming a Highway Patrol in California as they have the authorita to pull you over and pop your hood.

mine is mounted directly below my mirror, with suction cups. It is as high up as it can go under the mirror without being blocked by the rear-view mirror itself. It picks up laser around me with no problem, but its never from the police, only from other vehicles.

quick question....

Has anyone ever gotten a false KA-Band (Police Radar) signal? I may have picked up a false one today, but i dont think its possible, there was no cop around me, not even an undercover...
