My dad is currently in the market for a crossover vehicle to replace the BMW 335 while its being stored for the winter and used to tow his boat. He test drove the Venza fwd last night and I must say its pretty sick. I really like the fx35 but haven't test dove it yet. His price range is between $35-$38k CAD before taxes. So it would be either a brand new Venza or 1-2 year old fx35.

Any suggestions?

Venza 110% for 2 reasons

#1 New car=full warrenty

#2 all the bad ass little gadgets that the Venza has... power rear seats/liftgate, i-pod storage etc..

the venza is considered a car by toyota. not even an suv. and it is only rated to tow 3,500 pounds with the tow package. it's not a bad looking car, but not really my flavor.

and 3,500 is with the V6 and tow pkg.. 2,500 lbs with 4 cylinder and tow pkg. no tow package, no matter what engine , FWD, or AWD, 1,000 lb towing capacity.

get a truck.

For that same price he could get a Tundra with a 5.7, leather and some other goodies.

My pops wanted a truck at first but my mom's going to be driving it as well. He's got a full size GMC Denaili which is his workhorse.

Ok, never mind since he already has one.

Another one he could look at is a GMC Terrain. I know someone that just got one, fully loaded at it is NICE!!! They did a really good job with it and it came with navigation, ipod/usb hookup and a 40G hard drive to put personal stuff on there. A vehicle with a high tech radio can tell you a lot about the vehicle and how all the technology in it is new.

I voted for the FX-35. I've always liked these and really like the styling for a crossover. I think the Venza is goofy looking that.

I looked at Venzas today at the dealer. Very sweet with lots and lots of gadgets. Get the big motor dual exhaust! They had a nice charcoal with all options 40k.

Ironically, I found myself checking these 2 vehicles out recently. I decided to sit in the back seat of the FX35 and it was awful. The back is almost vertical (like the back wall of our trucks) and does not recline. I felt pretty cramped back there with the driver's seat in driving position. No way 4 adults would want to take one on a road trip. It was comparable to sitting in the back of a G35/37 sedan. The back seat of the M35 was way more comfortable.

I'm gonna check out the Venza later this week when I take my truck back to Toyota for the bearing replacement.
