Ok, I now some of us have an issue with a rattling noise out of the passenger seat while the truck is driving. I had some free time on my hands and decided to go tackle it. It was actually quite simple.
Here is the write up on how to get rid of that rattling noise.
Time required : 30mins
Tools needed : medium phillips screwdriver
Materials needed : rubber grommet (see below) available at Lowe's or ACE Hardware.
Note : By perfoming the procedure detailed here or any part thereof, you expressly agree to do so at your own risk and agree to hold XRU, myself and other XRU members / contributors wholly harmless.
Step 1 :
Open passenger door and suicide door.
Step 2 :
Locate the screw that holds the back of the passenger seat cover panel, remove screw.
Step 3 :
Locate the release lever for the passenger seat recliner clockspring. Note that the lever is mounted on a shaft with a circlip on the end of it. The circlip fits into a groove in the shaft, but the groove is too wide and allows the clip and release lever to rattle.
Remove the circlip and pull the lever off the shaft
Step 4 :
Take your rubber grommet (note in picture the grommet I used, it's from Lowe's. But you can probably use any other grommet that's of a similar size) and fit it over the shaft and slide it down as far as it'll go. You may have to tuck the edges of the grommet's inner hole to make sure the release lever and circlip can fit back onto the shaft.
Step 5 :
Remount the release lever and circlip. Make sure the circlip is secure.
Step 6 : Reattach the seat's side cover
