alright im about to change my oil again..as well as get the crank pulley installed tomm.

well Glen and myself had a discussion about how much qts. to put in, is the correct amount..
well the book said 4.5qts..

i have ALWAYS bought 5qts and thought that was right..well glen said that 6qts is what i needed to buy....

So only one way to determine, we compared dip sticks.. his was at the full line, and i was was not..in between the 2 dots.. needless to say that was not koucher for me..

we even called a toyota tech. and he even said they dump 6qts all day long and that the 4.8 is not correct...

take it for what you want guys..not trying to stir and old argument on here..:top:

It is not supposed to touch the top line, it is supposed to be in the middle of the bottom and top line. If your oil is significantly touching the top line, then you have almost overfilled it. Use 5qts, that is what the truck calls for. Just because it can take more, doesn't mean it should.

Putting too much oil is one of the easiest ways to feck up a motor.

I did my first oil change after i got the truck.

I heard 4.8 quarts. Tried that. Not enough. I poured the entire 5 quart jug in. Just right.

6 quarts is way to much...you WILL do more harm that good when overfilling a engine with oil.

i know your not arguing with me bro... honestly i was trying to figure out the exact amount for all the oils...only reason why i said that is cause i would figure with air inside the oil lines and oil catchment that would throw off the oil measurement by a little...that's where the give and take come into play...:top:

but let us know how much they actually put into you XR tomorrow...

My owner's manual says 4.8 quarts (4.5 Liters). I typically try to get to 4.8. Then run it for a little while, then check the dip stick and if it's low, dump the rest in.

Yea, my dealership puts in 5 exactly. 6 is definitely way to much though.
