Ok here is the skinny. Over the last six months or so on a heavy down pour of rain like today my CEL will light up. When I run my OBII program on the PC it tells me that the error is my MAF. I have the URD TCAI and their MAF Calibrator. I have had this setup for over 2yrs with no issues until this started. I have a prefilter cover like for a seadoo covering my air filter so I think that should keep the majority of the moisture out. So my question is, is there a way to test the Calibrator to make sure it's working properly? I have cleaned my MAF twice now with brake cleaner and both times the unit is clean before I clean it. I using the Amsoil Nano filter in the URD kit so it's a dry filter. Could the Calibrator be crapping out on me? Also I have put about 1,000 miles on it since the last time I got this CEL light for the MAF. Any info will be great. Thanks for all the input.

Damn:banghead:

Well I read a post either on here or on TW that brake cleaner was what you were supposed to use to clean your MAF with. There were several people using it with no problems. They said no carb cleaner. Let me se if I can find it.

my next step is to change the plugs (waiting for them to come in)

if that doesnt help the bogging/riching out issue, ima have to try replacing the afr/02 sensors. (hope to god its not them...about $500)

what symptoms are you experiencing.

Really nothing at all except for bad mpg's. The light came on today after a heavy rain. I reset the light with my OBDII CAN with my PC and everything seems to be fine again. It's reading the air volume and temp per the program. I don't know what to do about keeping water out of the filter. It's weird that this just started and now it's happening every hard rain.

what code was it? P0101. if so thats just the MAFS code, replace and reset. If its still bad it'll let u know b/c itll come right back on

if its P0103, same deal MAFS or a short

get the injen splash gaurd/heat shield and use the hydroshield prefilter if you havent been already

I think that it was the P0103 code. I'll have to try that splash guard.

Replace the air flow meter. And the pre filter won't keep ALL moisture out. I use the shield and during dry days I take the pre filter off because it is pretty restrictive, when it rains hard I slip it back on therefore having the shield and the pre filter

Just FYI there's a way to test the WRAF and rear O2 sensors to make sure they work fine, replacing them without first checking them would be stupid to do.

Also to clean a MAF sensor there's this stuff called MAF sensor cleaner:laugh:
Good luck and hope u figure this out:top:

sure usually the voltage will be messed up if they are bad scan tool can read them that's one way and usually what happens don't know the correct voltage offhand I think it's .89 sound right?

you know when they go bad imo yes im pretty darn sure they will throw a code could be wrong but i don't think so them things are touchy as heck now not saying it may not be covered in exhaust it's possible but if it's
gonna cause it to not operate properly I think it will set a code off everytime
