  • The price I quoted you below is for a new ring and pinion, new bearings, new limited slip posi, used 3rd member housing, and a used yoke.
The price would drop by a good amount if I reused your bearings, posi, and yoke, but you would have to ship those to me.
I'm 99.9% sure that I could not reuse your 3rd member housing, but if you shipped the whole thing to me I could double check that as well.
If we get any Prerunner core returns that have good gear sets in them, I'll let you know.
Well the news is not so good. Your cost in parts alone would be $1470. $620 of that is for a new OEM 3.72 gear set. Toyota doesn't make 3.42's. The OEM ratios available are 4.10, 3.72, 3.58, 3.30, and the 3.15. I have no idea why the OEM Toy gear sets are so expensive. It's been that way as long as I can remember.
I couldn't find any aftermarket gear sets numerically lower than 4.10. We sell aftermarket Tacoma ratios for the 4X4 crowd, and apparently so does everybody else.
If there are any Toyota recyclers in your area, check there for a Prerunner 3rd member. Either that or buy the new Prerunner 3rd member from Toyota.
Sorry man, I wish I had better news.
    Yeah I'll check 3.73's also.
OEM gears are expensive, but are better quality.
Aftermarket gears might make some gear noise at certain speeds but are way cheaper. I'll get back to you tomorrow.
Hey sorry for the delay. I think this is the first time I've checked my page. I guess the visitor messages don't show up in the PM box.
I'll price out some parts and get back with you with a price.
