Which pioneer head unit do you have? If it has reverse camera capabilities, there should be a backup camera video input and voltage sensor that you connect to the power for the reverse light, on the back of the unit. That's how m pioneer head unit worked anyways...

I highly doubt that a factory camera will have the correct connections for an aftermarket radio, look at the video connection on it first.

I had a boyo back up camera vtl300. It's a license plate frame camera I got on amazon for 100 bucks. I looked at the back of your unit, and it looks like the violet/white wire is the one that senses voltage changes when the gear is in reverse. You'd need connect the hot wire from the backup camera to the reverse light hot wire in your rear lights (the one that changes voltage when you put it in reverse) then connect to the violet/white wire on the back of your unit....Then connect the ground (black) wire to ground and the video wire to the reverse camera input on the back of your unit (labelled R.C IN)

I have an oem camera and YES you can hook it up to your pioneer headunit, if you get the tailgate harness it makes it 10x easier.... Ill find the write up on Tacoma world...

Here ya go: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...em-tailgate-camera-pre-09-taco-lots-pics.html

It's on my to do list, just haven't gotten to it yet, I will try and do a write up eventually when i do the install.

have you or anyone tried this yet? is their a pre-made harness available to hook up to my pioneer? i recently purchased a oem camera with part of the harness on ebay
