Got the Map-Ecu3 to control my modifications. Wired it with the general wiring guide gadget sends. Don;t think his wiring guide includes the hooking up of the speed sensor. Never thought this was a problem until I got 10psi boot and nitrous:biggrin:. Now wondering how to hook up this feature as test driving I had to pay attention to keep it below 115 mph and the fuel cut off. (Fuel cut off plus nitrous.... can't be good!) Any help will be appreciated. I am also posting this on Map-Ecu forum.

Map-Ecu3 forum admin stated he did not know if the speed cut overide would work on an auto transmission. Directed me to contact Gadget to see. So I have email gadget... we will see what he says.

The VSS signal trick that us Manual guys do work very good...on your truck, i'd assume it cause some sifting issues, but if your hitting those speeds, i bet you would just have in manual shifting anyways...

hmm wonder what the master will say...

The speed cut feature of the MAP-ECU3 does not work on the 1GR applications.

Works great on the older 5VZ. I think I know what will be needed to make it work, just never got around to testing it.

Any chance of picking your brain so I can attempt a fix? It scares me as fast as the truck is still accelerating past 100 MPH and the fuel cut being so low...

I could never get the map ecu 3 to work with my turbo setup, it made power, just will not work under partial throttle. Does yours runs properly under partial throttle? maybe were doing something wrong.

I have tuned a few turbo 1GRs with the MAP-ECU. Worked fine.

You most likely needed the closed loop boost enrichment function tweaked a bit.

Here is one I tuned in Cali. Took about 40 minutes start to finish. It used an up pipe/down pipe configuration with the turbo in front of the engine like some of the Mustang kits. Still had all the cats.

I think I saw some pictures of your combination in its earlier version. It looked to me that you had way to big of a pipe for the MAF sensor and it was very distant from the throttle valve. Those two things will make tuning very hard.

Mine does work well. Won't say perfect as close loop wanders + or - .3 a/f even after extensive tunning. But it does work plenty good enough for what I am doing.

The stock ECU controls the AFR in closed loop. If you are trying to tune AFR in closed loop you are going to drive yourself nuts.

In closed loop you tune by canceling fuel trim deviation. Get it close to ZERO and move on.

I understand closed loop and have tuned to as close to zero fuel trims. But my wideband still wanders during constant RPMs (cruise control). Tune some more to get trims as close to 0. Then next time same wandering. Like its changing itself ( but according to map-ecu3 its not). Works and drives fine... just isn't perfect.

It is going to move around a little bit. That is normal.

The target is 14.65:1 and you may see it range from 15-14 or so on.

My mrk1 on the freeway would wander from 15.3 to like 14 flat...Stock id see 15-14.3ish cruising.

Like gadget said, its normal to see fluctuations, as long your fuel trim is not being maxed out.

Thanks for the heads up on slight wandering...
now about the top speed defeat

since the Map-Ecu3 has many switched outputs.... could one be set to activate at say 110 mph then that signal go to a normally closed relay and open it at 110 to defeat the fuel cut? As long as the speed is below 110 signal is unmodified and transmission shouldn't be affected.

What say ye??

You do not want to eliminate or turn off the vehicle speed sensor signal.

For some reason when you do this the VVTi system stops functioning with no speed sensor signal.

When the VVTi system does not function, the front cam bearing do not get properly lubricated.
