The 2010 FJ Cruiser, the most capable off-road SUV in the Toyota line-up, will feature several upgrades, including dual VVT-i and roller rocker arms on the 4.0-liter V6, which add 19 horsepower and a one mpg increase. Minor suspension changes reduce the turning radius by more than a foot, and a new Army Green exterior color is offered. The base MSRP for FJ Cruiser will range from $23,680 for the 2WD automatic to $25,270 for the 4WD automatic, an increase of $360, or 1.4 to 1.5 percent.

i wonder if we can steal the heads off them and use them?

Yup, I posted something about this a week or 2 ago.
Wonder how they got the roller rockers to work with the VVTI?

vvt has nothing to do with rockers, just adjust the cam timing depending on the rpm

Something just seems odd about the roller rocker part:hmmmm2: Maybe their off their rocker. Maybe they will have 1 foot deep valve covers to fit all of that in, on top of the overhead cams. Yeah, that's feaseable.

The 5.7L V8 has dual VVTi and it also has rocker arms with hydrolic lash adjusters. I can't wait to see what the cam covers on the updated 4.0L looks like.

I'm wondering and hoping for the same thing chris...

but I wonder with the new engine design if that's the reason the TRD S/C and fit kit are different for the 09's?...:hmmmm2:

You will not be able to install the heads on your engine. The ECU is not capable of controlling the VVTi on the exhaust cam.

Basically what Toyota is doing is what the APR cam gears do, but with more control.

I may be wrong, but I do not think there is any difference in the TRD Supercharger fit kit for the 09 Taco. The ECU reflash calibration is what is different.

Why couldn't the Tacoma share the same motor? Thought yall would enjoy this

The 1GR-FE engine is a 4.0-liter, 24-valve DOHC V6 engine. In this engine, a Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (Dual VVT-i) system, in which the VVT-i system has also been added to the exhaust side, and the roller rocker arm are used to minimize friction, offering excellent engine performance, fuel economy and clean emissions.

The 1GR-FE engine is compatible with gasoline/ethanol mixed fuel which contains up to 20% ethanol (E20). Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 (research octane number 91) or higher can be used on this engine.
