Bump for new info and commitment thinking.
ok guys I know I've been ghost on the site for a bit, but please forgive me for that. This is still planned to happen and I'm looking forward to seeing old faces as well as new ones. I've updated the first post or this thread with info as of this morning.
Now down to business;
*Hotel Rooms
So in the pass this has been tricky with people backing out or not planning and at the last minute saying they need a place to sleep. With that said if that's how you roll I wont judge but for the rest that are planning on attending and want the best room rates and no hassles without last minute arrangements to worry about listen up.
If you're planning on sharing a room with a friend/XRU citizen please discuss and plan that over this month. If you're planing on having your own room and/or want a roommate for the weekend please also discuss and plan that over the rest of this month as well.
Reason being is on March 1, 2011 I will be requesting everyone that needs a room (ie is the person paying for that room/responsible for the room), at the group rate (that we're sorting out shortly and with luck posted before said date), to put your name down on a official booking list so we know how many rooms to set aside for the event. (please dont start your own list just wait til 1 March 2011 for the official one)
Also to prevent people from requesting a room and dropping out we will be setting up a deposit system for the rooms (more info on how this will work to follow on a later date). This will be setup to insure that the person helping us out on the slamming rates doesn't get screwed in the process of helping out his fellow XRU citizens. This deposit will not be asked for until everything with the rooms are set in stone and a separate account set-up for it, but you can be assured that by April 1 it will be. If you do not like this idea and have a better way to go about this feel free to pm me with your input and it will be taken under advisement.
Now of course if you want to pay full price for your room and be last minute go ahead and do your thing and I'll see you there. All the previous statements about the hotel are for the group dealing we're working out.
Advisement for last minute people: Lake Tahoe is a very busy place in the summer peek season! Rooms book up fast in almost every hotel with many events planned for every weekend with countless groups and clubs, so if you are going to attend it just many behoove you to join the group rates.
*Events
I listed the events Brett and myself are planning for group functions which
WILL be set to a time table and said time table will be given to you on check-in. These events will be set-up to attend but if you find something better to do while your there by all means do your thing and join in the group activities when you feel like it. But I will follow the time table for all departures from the hotel for the events. Also you may note I didn't make a "mod" day do to the fact that they normally don't go to plan but if you really want to wrench in a parking lot go ahead and bring your tools.
I know all this structure I'm throwing up sounds drab and a bore but once X-travaganza kicks off it'll be far from it. In my experance well planned big events go much better then half planned ones, so hopefully I didn't scare all of you away and I'll have more info as the month of Feb progresses.
If they can't get a good deal on the hotel, why not camp out. I look it up, lots of places by the lake.
even camp sites book fast in summer peek season at Tahoe and many people hate camping. From past experience large camping style meets tend to be smaller and many times fall through due to lack of camping excitement. I have in the past tried to plan a X-fest with Brian (Lucky) when we were mods on the site but it fell through and deposit money I put out for it got wasted. It was a lesson well learned and I wont be repeating. But thank you for the in-put regarding camping vs. hotel.
