I did a quick Google search on "NEX brakes" and found this site, I'm not even sure that this is the same company that sells these brakes. The site reads like a Chinese-made web site with marginal English and amatuerish graphics.

BE WARNED, my internet security suite flagged this site as having potential security threats on it. I did not go anywhere on the site other than the title page for that reason. Browse at your own risk !

uh ... excuse me ? ... :dontknow:

It has nothing to do with Windows. It's McAfee Security Suite.

As for a Mac, wouldn't touch one of those with a laser pointer ...

Dude I have the TRD BBK, I was just simply stating, if you have the ability to read the initial post and purpose of this thread, that there is this brand available and if anyone had heard anything about it.

Q & A:

1) Dear maxspeedperformance,

How do these brakes function with the Toyota ABS
system?

-muzzyfsu

Dear muzzyfsu,

It is same as brembo bake system so it is no problem to work with ABS. Thanks.

- maxspeedperformance

2)Dear maxspeedperformance,

Hi. I was wondering if this Kit fit 2005+ toyota
tacoma with 2WD? Also
can the stock master
cylinder handle a 8 piston caliper? Thanks.

-muzzyfsu

Dear muzzyfsu,

Yes. No problems.

- maxspeedperformance

And to all of you "pantie wadders" I have already written an email to brembo to ask for conformation or any clarification as to these statements.

Just got off the phone with their NA distributor (for NEX), the email i got about brembo was front a desk worker that shouldn't have sent that reply, lol, think he got in trouble. But this company is pretty ligit from what he is telling me. He is going to do a write up about their brakes and will email it to me. I will post it when I get it. But from what he was explaining to me, these are very high quality and very modestly priced due to its introduction to the US market. But as I said, there will be more info to come. The "year" problem I informed him about, and he stated that its mistaken due to international model years and what not. Anyways, we will see. Please no one give me any negative comments. I am just presenting this info for the benefit of the forum and XR owners.

I don't like how they have an adapter on their rotor's to make them bolt up to the lugs...

LOL The site pulled up fine for me.....I use kapersky antivirus though....I still think those 380's may be too big for our wheels.....(no hate just a generalize opinion) Those 355's are awfully close to the stock wheel.

Course its the caliper that is so close to the rim, the rotors may fit depending on the design of the caliper?

Yeah but with 20 + inch rims you should be fine, and that is when you would want bigger brakes anyways. I am sure the TRD 335 is more than enough for 18's. But when u start gettin to 20 + and bigger tires (like I am running +1'' greater overall diameter) Bigger rotors would be nice, would fill it in better too, by TRD BBK look kinda small right now, lol. But if these end up being nice, I may sell my BBK and buy these, so anyone looking for a TRD BBK with about 10,000 miles + brand new EBC red stuff, they may be on sale soon!

So who don't know!! Stoptech and trd bbk are one and the same, Stoptech makes the brakes and just puts a different color paint on them.:top:

Stoptech no longers sells their own labeled BBKs for the XR. They stopped once they became the supplier for the TRD BBK. It's even harder to find the Stoptech 355mm for the XR. I don't think they sold many when they were being sold. Mostly it was the 332mm kit which is what the TRD is.

355mm is the max that will fit under the stock wheel. My caliper barely clears the stock wheel.

That NEX BBK is interesting, the specs certainly sound good. While it's awesome there's another brake option I am a little hesitant about a brand that's unknown and honestly untested. Even with Rotora you can find countless articles from track use of the brakes, the same goes for Stoptech.

I couldn't find any real world testing of the NEX brakes, in fact any road results at all. That makes me nervous because brakes are the one area you do not want to take chances on. If NEX is well known in Taiwan they should be able to provide links to third party testing of the brakes to show how they really hold up to abuse:hmmmm2:
