im installing an aftermarket double din unit in my 09' later this week. just making sure i have everything i need. I was "told" i could use the same wire harnesses from the other years. but knowing the 09' stereos were different i had to open mine up to make sure.

-anyone other 09's know where to get the right wire harnesses??
-anyone have a wire diagram so i know what the toyota wires are for? (i really don't want to cut the factory harnesses off though)
-anyone want to buy my old wire harnesses for 05-08? uhhhh say $5(CAD) dollars...

I like the writing LMAO!!! Since they are different then the 05-08 models, you would think they would have different harnesses:dontknow:.

***EDIT: I just asked my parts dept., and they said that the 2009 models DO have a different wiring harness then the 05-08's...so you might need to go get a new harness ehh. Here is a pic of the back of a 2005-2008 OEM head unit...doesn't look the same as yours-->

I had my head unit professionally installed ,they used a '09 adapter kit, so they say, I think they may have modified an earlier harness or maybe not, regardless they did an excellent job. I also had them install an adapter kit for the steering wheel controls to work. since I got the head unit from them for far below cost during the xmas season I had them install the HU and speakers and steering wheel controls adapter on my '09.

BTW the back connections of my '09 radio, are exactly the same as the radio Knightrider has pictured

This is a pic of the back of my stock 2009 radio.

The connectors are the same except for above the antenna.

Got your PM:top:

I used the 05-08 adapters w/o a problem, and the Pac Swi module to keep the steering wheel controls

Soon after that I took out all the speakers and ran aftermarket ones through amps though.

Do you wanna keep the AUX port? Check out my write up >HERE<
They may have a harness that does this now, but I couldn't find one when I did mine almost a year ago

Do you wanna Use the factory Sattellite antenna? Check out my other write up >HERE<

Ill have to take a look at the back of my stock radio, I remember there was one factory harness that I ended up not plugging back in, and I kinda halfassed made a wiring diagram that I can post, but its on my cpu at home

you mean they way i have my harnesses plugged in is right? none of the colours match up at all though and it looks like my rear speaker wires are plugged into the power wires?

and yup the pac swi-x is in the mail, and im not using the factory sat or aux input.

since im not planning on running new wires for my speakers though if someone has a diagram for where all the speaker wires are coming off the harness it would help...\

and youre right pablo i guess i figured since the layout was different the connection were different too. but i guess the connections look the same.

Oh I see what your saying about the harness, I think the blue one has to do with the Sub.

damnit, this is gonna bug me all day but I cant remember anything until I get home and look at what I got.

You might have to wait till around 5pm EST for sum updates from me. Do you have a pic of the back of your radio?

It looks like you have them connected how I did, blue is for rear speakers/sub

The white one with alotta little pins if for the aux, and I think steering wheel controls. The black I didnt use

This is a pinout
http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf

Colors will not match up because its going from toyota color code-to-adapter-to-MECP standardized aftermarket color code. In the blue connector the thickness of the wires may be misleading, but on mine the red/black/white/yellow do go to the sub connector in the back:top:

found all this from digging up some of my old random post, if I find more info I will post.

looking at that .pdf gives me all the info i need though. thanks... hopefully my steering wheel control adapter shows up soon so i can install my HU now!!!

If you wanna clip the wires its up to you....here's the colors just off the top of my head. 100% Very accurate. You can use a 12 or 14volt battery from a drill to pop the speakers to confirm they are for sure the speaker wires.

12v = blue/yellow
Ground = brown
Ignition = gray
Illumination = green
LF Speaker +/- pink - purple
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - blue
LR Speaker +/- black - yellow
RR Speaker +/- red - white

I'm getting ready to do an install myself on my '09. I planned to use the Scosche TA02B wiring harness that it has listed for all years. My only concern is I'm not sure how the factory amp wiring is going to work. Does that amp need a separate feed like aftermarket ones need RCA cables? Does it make use of the power antenna cable to tell the amp to turn on/off? Or does it just piggyback off of the rear speakers signal? My headunit has the ability to control the bass to the amp separately but I'm fairly sure it does that through the RCA cables. I just don't want to spend the cash to install this stereo and lose the amp or any functionality.

ok its been a while.....but I am 90% sure that sub works off the speaker wires.

You will not have the control over the sub with your new HU, but it will still play.

I replaced the HU before i did the rest of the speakers/sub, and the sub did still work. I believe that a better HU will bring out the short comings of the factory system though and you may want to upgrade later

check this for using the factory headphone jack:

and if you plan on using XM or sirius
