Man this is a great write-up, I used it to install mine and they came out great. Bolts and sensors are a beeeeaaach but enough penetrating lube the night before helped...a little.

Did mine today. Skipped steps 2+3 didn't really have a problem. Took me 3.5 hours to do these and the urd y-pipe which included finding and fixing the leaks. Sounds great. Scared a few people already. What bracket were you talkng about in step 15? I didn't see anything

I cant remember, its on the passenger side of Xrunners I think. Someone had mentioned they had to move it out of the way so the header wouldnt touch it.

You need to bend the inverter wire bracket on the passenger side frame rail. The starter wires are pretty close to the driver side header but mine seem to be ok (not showing heat damage).

Is it possible to install the DTLT from the bottom? I have the MKII already installed. It's in the way?

I installed my headers with my MKI installed. And helped with another one last weekend. MKII is very similar.
Just remove some of the intake and charge pipeing and you can get to everything fine.
Top, bottom, and through the wheel wells to get to all the bolts. Just have plenty of extensions and U-joints

Completed the install of the DTLT 515-L1 series headers, what a PITA!!! Wow had to remove the steering joints and messed it up slightly. Tightening the header bolts? Done but not way to torque properly. The O2 sensor plugs took multiple tries to finally get off.

I did mine from the bottom. The passenger side was a little PITA, but woulda been easier if I had another hand.

I did not have to do anything whit the steering, but I did take the hanger brackets loose from the tranny so I could move them outta the way.

The o2 sensors were a major PITA to take off, I had to put the pipe in a vise and use a little heat on the bung.

I couldn't torque the motor side properly either, which reminds me I need to go back and check all those bolts again.....

Did mine from the bottom last week. Driver side was a piece of cake. They slipped right on. I didnt even unbolt any of the brackets it says to unbolt in the write up. The passenger side was completely different. It just would not go on. I had to jack up the engine a little bit to get it to finally get it. And take off the tranny brackets, or whatever they are, too.

I was not able to get a torque wrench on the bolts either. I tightened them down a bit and then ran the truck til it was hot. Then retightened them just a bit. Because of that, i check them every now and then. So far so good:top:
