My friend swapped an S/C'd 5VZ in an 87 reg cab p/u that had a 22R in it. He welded in 3VZ motor mounts, used a 3VZ trans, 5VZ flywheel and 5VZ LC clutch with a 3VZ throwout bearing. The wiring harness & ECU were all 5VZ. He also had to use a 3VZ oil pan to clear the cross member. The motor had an 11 psi pulley, Vortech FMU, Walbro 190 LPH fuel pump, URD lightweight crank pulley, and Snow water/methanol injection. Internally, the motor is all stock. Exhaust is stock manifolds with a homemade exhaust because the exhaust exits on the opposite side of the truck than the 22R. The truck ran 12.84 @ 104 MPH at the track on 26X10 M/T slicks and a V6 rear end loaded with 4.10s and a Detroit Locker. Simple slapper bars help plant the tires. 1.70 60' yanking the L/F tire off the line.
Note: The previous owner had a fully built 12.0:1 20R headed 22R 4 cyl. with an NOS Fogger system in the truck and ran 12.23 @ 107 MPH. 60' was an impressive 1.65. The motor ran on a strict diet of VP C12 race fuel. The rear end gear was 4.56. The motor seemed to run out of breath on the top hence the rather low MPH but would run like hell in the first 1/8.
