Hey I'm just trying to get some opinions on speakers. I'm a student and don't have enough money to buy top of the line speakers so I'm trying to find the best bang for my buck.

Im keeping the stock head unit for now and Im pretty sure the front stock speakers are blown.

What are some good speakers you guys recommend i get?

Do I go with the oval or circular in the front?

Thanks in advance

all im about to pass to you is only MY OPINION

brand name wise just go to your local audio store or bestbuy, etc and just look around on speakers. If your tight on money look at Kenwood, Pioneer or maybe even Jensen. and i would stay with your size speakers circular i believe unless you want to spend more on a conversion kit. dont forget about your door tweeters as well

depending if you also want to install an amp and/or subs then since your keeping your stock radio you need to get whats called an am/fm modulator which sends signals from the stock radio to your amp.

hope this helps... goodluck :top:

Honestly, I LOVED my Image Dynamics CTX65CS Mids and Highs... Check out the bundle packages for our trucks at TacoTunes.com: http://shop.tacotunes.com/Bundled-Tacotunes-Packages_c23.htm

When my truck got totalled I threw them in my wife's Highlander. I just had to use a saw and modify the MDF speaker templates. The TacoTunes products are built extremely well. :top:

For stock replacement on stock hu and not adding an amp I would suggest some alpine or kenwood in factory sizes (6x9 up front) that would be easiest and some nice speakers.

tip: use crutchfield and to find what fits and part numbers then find them cheaper online (Ebay?)

A good set of 3 way infinity 6x9's and tweeters for the front will make an amazing difference. Def get the tacotunes adapters. They make life alot easier when replacing these speakers.

front componets speaker
custom 6.5 focal 165a3 carbon series

rear speaker
6.5 focal 210 ca1

amp
alpine digital amp pdx4

i spent about 600 on just door speakers and another 400 on a 4 channel amp.
focal is 1 of the best speakers out there. no distortion at all. u can put up to max on volume and it sounds crips clear. :top:

Before I did my stereo up I did a stock head unit to better speaker swap... I did one then compared the two rears.... I swaped back to stock after hearing the amount of bass and volume loss. I would recommended a cheap low wattage till you upgread your head or add an amp.. the stock head has too little wattage to power a nice set of speakers ... that's what I found

He's on a budget baller boy haha.

I have alpine type R in all four corners and have an alpine 450/4 for it.

Sound quality - Decent, nothing like the Focals or other higher end speakers.
Loud - yes. Not much distortion and the highs are pretty crisp even at high volumes.
Bass - no. But the JL 13W7 makes up for it.

Overall I am happy with my system. I wish I would have invested more money in sound deadeners though. I should have went all out. :rolleyez:

Go with the tacotunes adapters for sure. Good quality and not too terribly priced. I have kicker ks series 6x9's up frt and 6's in the rear doors. They sound great and clear especially when cranked. They have decent bass, but I'm gonna add a sub eventually. I got these speakers from www.crutchfield.com at a good price. Keep your eyes open on their website they have sales and specials all the time.

I you don't plan to run an amp or change the stock head unit, just go with a simple coaxial swap. DO NOT try to run a component setup without an amp. Most component speakers need a minimum of 50+ watts rms, your stock head unit won't even come close. Go with something like these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR60/Alpine-SPR-60.html?tp=105&nvpair=FFBrand|Alpine
or
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPS610/Alpine-SPS-610.html?tp=105&nvpair=FFBrand|Alpine

and either purchase or build adapters like these

I forgot to mention that:top:

*might* be cheaper/easier to just get 6x9 up front. I know it may not sound as good tho.

I'm looking for something with good Crisp sound and bass for the front. The stock speakers have decent bass but now they're blown-.-

For now I'm keeping the stock head unit and no amp. Maybe in the future I'll go with a different setup

If you save money i really like my RE Audio XXX comp speakers. They need 150 RMS from a amp but they scream. They sound really clear and crisp if you tune them right. But RE also has regular 6.5 comp speakers that are cheaper and good too

If you get 6x9 they should "drop in"

If you get 6 1/2 you have to get/make adapters.

IMO 6x9 seem to add more bass then 6 1/2, but that could also depend on the model...

6x9's won't drop in, the cutouts in the doors are much bigger than a 6x9. Im pretty sure you knew that, you were just saying you dont have to get an adapter to change the size, just get an adapter to make it fit. Stupid design from Toyota. If you don't get the tacotunes mounting brackets then expect a lot of cutting and cussing to get them installed. I made tweeter mounts myself out of some plastic, but the speakers are a different story.

But I agree, if you want a little more bass go with the 6x9's.
